Thai is my go-to comfort food. I’ve been eating it for decades all over the US and Canada.
I stopped here for the first time for some take-out on my way to visit an old friend because it was convenient. I’ve been enjoying Thai food all over the US and Canada for decades and never been disappointed, and this place had very good reviews, so I placed my order, being careful to mention spice levels and side items. I picked up my take out at the appointed time, expecting something good, but when I got to my friend’s house we were both very disappointed. Maybe it was a bad night because there were COVID restrictions? The small restaurant was clean and attractive. The owner seemed nice, and assured me everything was as I ordered it, but it wasn’t and the food just was simply very disappointing.
Same issues others brought up: Ordered medium hot with extra chili sauce packets on the side because we like spicy. Bland with no chili sauce on the side but oodles of soy. Everything over salted and bland, etc.
Fresh wraps were good overall but the sauce was definitely watered down. Had to hunt for the shrimp. Had we known, we would have conserved the watery sauce to add some flavor and spice to the rest. Mango curry- almost no sauce and no flavor. Only one or 2 of each the veggies it’s supposed to include...even the onion, 5...shrimpy shrimps. Had I known I would have ordered extra sauce, and now I know why it’s a menu option lol, but everywhere else I’ve ever been in my life has always had more than enough sauce to savor every morsel if rice it comes with. Pineapple fried rice- the pineapple was definitely sweetened and from a can. None of that wonderful tartness I look forward to. Veggies- were frozen peas and carrots. We could count them on one hand. Chicken was shaved- tender but not much substance overall. Rice was mushy and overly salty. Otherwise no flavor in a dish that’s supposed to have that pineapple tang. Everything was bland- no flavor, no color, texture or smell...just bland and oily....which is the opposite of all of the other Thai food Ive ever had and why I never do Chinese anymore ( in addition to the MSG issue).
I paid $50 for 2 entrees and an app, and I’m tempted to ask for my money back...but it’s Covid and I’m sure business has been effected...which is why I left a 20% tip for a takeout order.
Regrets. It’s a convenient stop along the way and I wish them well, but I’m happy to drive out of my way to know I’m get an accurate order of good food I know will be good—especially when I’m bringing ”comfort food” to...
Read moreOrdered takeout on a weeknight for the first time from Siam Grill Thai Cuisine and was very pleased! The value of price paid to quality and quantity of food was extremely good. Large portions of fresh and well prepared entrees. We ordered the Papaya Salad with medium spice and it was prefect - dressing tangy and funky, and laid over fresh and crispy romaine lettuce leaves. For our main dishes we enjoyed Pad See Ew and requested no spice (instructions were followed) and Pad Thai with mild spice plus extra broccoli (again, instructions followed). We also received a bag full of free egg rolls which was so kind! I wish we would have taken photos because the food looked delicious and the portions were very big, but it was too tasty to wait so we dove in and ate! For the entrees you can get them with multiple proteins for just a few...
Read moredelicious...i didn't even make it home. like a savage and an impatient gen z, i ate 20% of it while sitting in the driver's seat in the parking lot. the pad see ew had a smokey charred chicken in sweet soy sauce. the noodles were perfectly chewy and non oily/greasy (asked for light oil) and the broccoli/carrots were perfectly al dente (not too mushy, not too undercooked).
also got the papaya salad med. spicy and definitely has some kick to it and for some reason it made me eat more, with water of course, but none to be found in the car. it didn't stop me from stuffing my face tho. it helped to chase it with the pad see ew. 😋 the portions are generous and quickly prepared (5-7 min). it took me longer to look at the menu to decide and order. parking is...
