Ok here we go. Usually I purchase lawn tickets for the events at this venue (Atlantic Union pavilion (Portsmouth, Va), And, I have enjoyed each event!
Well, an artist that I absolutely LOVE came here. So, this time…I decided to purchase reserved seating seats..Up front (row E seats 13,14,15). I really like this venue. The ambiance is spectacular. And, The location is awesome!
Paid close to $300.00 (with insurance) for the 3 tickets (together). My advice to others. DON'T DO IT!!! Get the lawn seats!!
This is why:
This venue had set up 31, blue folding chairs (the chairs w/seat pads). In each row, the chairs were so darn close together, in each row (the venue actually squeezed all these chairs together with NO kind of spacing what-so- ever!!!). We sat like "chickens" with arms close to our breast.
When you raised to your feet as you were "feeling" the music, you were darn near in the lap of person next to you…. We we're crammed inthere.UGH!
Honestly, I could have I brought some chairs from my backyard and really enjoyed the venue and the artist more!
Please don't get me wrong… The artist was absolutely GREAT! But, the reserved seating at this venue (for the price) SUCKED!!!!
IDK…Maybe I expected more (?)……..A better seatingexperience (not much to ask)!
HELLO.it is still COVID-19 season.
Overall, I was VERY DISAPPOINTED with the set up! The togetherness "cramping" of the metal folding chairs was not...
Read moreThe pavilion is half fabulous, half not so much. Pros: The sound is incredible, especially for an outside venue. The seats are very comfortable and each has its own cup holder and another slot for a smallish phone, wallet or whatever. The staff is great, very friendly and helpful. Cons: The seating is not staggered, so you are looking at the head of the person in front of you instead of between the 2 people in front of you. Being a petite person, I spent a good deal of the concert either staring at the back of the guy's head in front of me or trying to see around him. My biggest beef, though, is that they claim to be practicing COVID safety and social distancing, yet with as many empty seats as there unfortunately were, there were people sitting right in front of and behind us. There is only a distance of about 2 feet between us. Also, not a mask in site, except for the staff, nor any kind of health check. I understand that it's an outside venue, but there was no social distancing. I had expected that separate parties would be better spaced as...
Read moreIntimate outdoor venue with friendly staff, clean bathrooms and great sound. This place is like a mini Veterans Amphitheater, but way less people and the opportunity to be front and center. The location is just past downtown Portsmouth in the water district. There is a large overhead tent that covers all of the seating except for the lawn seats. We purchased seated tickets to AJR, but lucked out and comped general orchestra standing 30 feet from the band. There are 2 large screens on the right and left of the stage to bring the action closer.
They have multiple beer, wine and cocktail stands along with soda and food options. I saw pizza and popcorn, but think they had burgers, fries, chicken strips. We parked for free on the street about half-mile away and walked (12 min) There's a park-and- ride close by, but you need to get there about 1 hour early to land those spaces...from here about a 5 min walk.
Great experience at this venue! If you get a chance to see a show here, I'd...
