Electric City Escapes — Attraction in Powdersville

RAVES!!! Yes, Raves...not Rave. An extra special friend had a big birthday yesterday. My husband and I wanted to do something special for her. We booked her and a few friends at Electric City Escapes, LLC and sent them to dinner at Puerto Nuevo in Anderson. At Electric City Escapes they experienced their first escape room. Part of the fun for us was that they had to solve clues to figure out where they were going! Not one in the group had ever been to an escape room before. We heard that they were very confused going in but they were quickly put at ease by the staff. The game guide took time to explain how to play. They had so much fun with the adventure of finding their way to the house, but even more fun with the game! Though they didn't solve the room, they had such a blast, they booked another visit before they left! Tonya Hepler Ledbetter , gave them the name of the restaurant where they would be going and the envelope I'd left with her, with the money to pay for dinner. She went out of her way to help us give our friend a great night! As much as we would have loved to join in the fun, I work in a tax office and...it's that time of year! :( It was the coolest birthday surprise that we've ever planned and our friend let us know, the best birthday fun she's ever had in her entire life. And at the restaurant, they talked & laughed about the game, through the whole meal, living it again, as they tried to figure out what they missed. 🤪 The food was great, service was excellent and the only part we hated is... we couldn't join them. I LOVED THIS PLACE! If you don't want to read my whole review, just know I recommend this place 100%! They have my seal of approval as a fellow escape room game master! Anderson is my hometown (I am living about 10 hours upstate currently), so when I went home on my very short Christmas visit I said we had to try this place! My family and I have always enjoyed doing escape rooms with each other in our free time and I actually have about a year of game master experience up here where I live. I wasn't sure what to expect with this place because it's not something that I would usually expect to pop up in Anderson, but it ended up being fantastic!!! The employees that were there were very helpful and kind, and the owner was sooo nice. We ended up beating the room that we did (Silent Night) with about 20 minutes left which we were told was around 12 minutes faster than their previous record! Throughly enjoyed this local escape room attraction! We took our church teens as a fun Christmas gift and had a blast. We did the Wonderland themed room(s) and a Christmas themed room. They were full of puzzles! Tons of lock and key boxes and interactive puzzles. We got through them without having to ask for too much help. Challenging but not impossible, which is how you want it to be. The people working are there to help anytime you need them. Makes it easier to get through. It’s no fun being stuck! The decor in each room was great but the Wonderland adventure was my favorite! The whimsical decor was perfect for the theme and I loved being surrounded by all the Wonderland characters and props.
