NOT allergy friendly!!! When ordering, I asked if a certain flavor ice cream had nuts in it. I asked for them to pull out the tub and check the ingredients on the side. The young girl working was having trouble getting the tub out so asked the older gentleman (I believe the owner) if it had nuts. He said, “no that does not have nuts” and walked off. I got the flavor and sat down and ate a few bites. I was feeling uneasy about it so I googled the flavor and saw that it has almonds in it, which is a TREE NUT that I am allergic to. I went back up and asked for them to remove the tub to check the ingredients. He said that he wouldn’t be able to see bc he didn’t have his glasses and he could Google it. I said I already did Google it and it says it has almonds so I’m wanting to confirm on the tub and I could read it for him. Other places let me do this all the time. I told him that I am pregnant and allergic and could end up in the hospital. And I didn’t say this, but if I ended up having an allergic reaction and needed benedryl and epinephrine I could have lost my baby. I understand it’s inconvenient to pull a tub out and check the ingredients but if someone is asking the reason could be life or death. It’s more inconvenient to get sued than check a label. And definitely don’t tell someone that it doesn’t have nuts when you haven’t even checked. I will not be returning here because I cannot trust any of their food products after that experience with the lack of education/ knowledge surrounding allergies. He offered for my ice cream to be on the house, but we had already paid for it. I do feel bad for them being busy and having some troubles keeping things running smoothly, but this review is necessary to warn other people...
Read moreWe stopped in today for our first visit to Coastal Cafe & Creamery. It definitely won't be our last! First, the owner will great you and will gladly answer any questions, tell you where the fresh seafood comes from, history of the recipes he uses. I enjoyed the conversation! We started off with the Shem Creek Crab Dip. Very good and a hit of spicy, loved it! Next was the Costal Crab & Corn Chowder. Its very flavorful and a dash of OldBay on top makes it perfect. I had the Port Royal Pimento Burger. The pimento cheese was spot on, but honestly the burger patty was just ok. I'll try something else next visit. My girlfriend had the Stone Shrimp Burger. Now this was something special! You can tell it's loaded with Shrimp and not some sort of bread filler. I definitely recommend this burger. The tater tots seemed to be air fried, and not greasy. They also have Hershey brand ice cream for dessert. We didn't try that though because of the good portions, we were full! That's another reading to...
Read moreI had high expectations for this place, but to come find out very overpriced for what I ordered. 2 scoops of Chicken Salad and a water to go was almost $15.00. I’ve never had Chicken Salad that is supposed to be so simple to make taste like potted meat but worse. I took three bites and couldn’t/ wouldn’t finish it and I’m a true southern person and this was not Chicken Salad from Carolina. I actually had to send it back to the place that it should have met later, the bathroom. They may have other items that are good but I won’t try them. When you sell Ice Cream from a conglomerate it easy to have people say it’s good. That’s why I went for the food. I’m sorry but...
