Tri-County Ace — Local services in Powdersville

Historically, Ace is the one to solve my most challenging hardware needs because of employees knowledge and commitment to great customer service.

I just had a need to cut a non-chipped Chevrolet key that matched my newly purchased key Fob. My local Ace in Easley, SC attempted to cut my new key, but their cutter could not accommodate the form factor. The staff was very accommodating and recommended I try the Tri-County Ace in Piedmont, SC.

The Tri-County Ace had the right equipment, however the store assistant manager, Michelle Grassano, refused to authorize the work as it was against their store policy! This is even after I agreed to purchase an additional blank key (which would not fit my key fob) and accepted the risk of this not working.

I cannot tell you how frustrating and a disappointing experience this was as their was a total disregard for customer service and satisfaction at the Tri-County Ace Hardware store. This is clearly not been my experience with other Ace Hardware stores across multiple states and is very specific to this store and assumingly assistant manager, Michelle Grassano.

I went to Ace today to get paint, and I expressed my concern to the cashier that I wanted to paint that would cover in one coat and that I did not want to make a trip back to them if it didn’t cover. By no means is this a cashiers fault but he instructed me that I should get Clark and Kensington brand over their Valspar brand. Unfortunately the paint did not cover in one coat so I had to return to the store and get another quart. As I’m at the store I see a sign that says that Valspar has a one coat guarantee and you get another paint on them if it doesn’t cover. I feel that the employee should have heard my concern for not wanting to return for more paint, or should have said hey if it doesn’t cover Valspar is the brand that you should go with and you’ll get one on us if that’s the case. Instead, I had to spend another $18 on a quart of paint to do a second coat and make another trip to Ace. I won’t be back...

Im always happy to walk into my local ace. It has excellent service. Frances, the cashier is incredibly helpful and consistently gets me in and out quickly. The floor staff are just as great, always ready to answer questions and guide me to what I need. They also help me find deals and use my coupons In The store, that way I save a bit. I came in recently looking for paint and looking at other sale items, but I couldn’t help browsing through the Clemson football items since I’m excited for Clemson chances this year.
