I am giving two stars only because it's convenient to be able to get blood drawn and x-rays in the same facility. It's also convenient to be able to take my entire family there, as well as be able to see certain specialists. And I like my PA Justin Ehmke.
However. Dr Brenda Kronborg (pediatrician) needs to understand that when the mother (who is a healthcare professional of 20 years with multiple licenses and certifications) of a 12 year old girl is saying that we don't pay much attention to height/weight charts or where we fall on them, because we don't think it's good to put emphasis on those kinds of things in our house, (My daughter is in counseling and one of the issues that sent her there was signs of a budding eating disorder. But Brenda Kronborg didn't ask about that before addressing these charts.) Brenda Kronborg needs to stop talking about the child needing to lose weight. My daughter is 117lbs, 5'3½”, and active in volleyball. She started developing 2 full years ahead of her peers.
She has suffered through some unspeakable traumas in her short life, and Dr Kronborg told her that the anxiety that she has - that a mental health professional has diagnosed her with, and which is causing insomnia now, is really just a mind over matter kind of thing. Insinuating (and making my daughter feel) that my daughter was at fault for the anxiety she feels because she's not trying hard enough to combat it herself, and also because we don't do enough Sunday family dinners.... 🤨
We did not make this appointment to discuss my daughter's BMI or where she falls on some asinine chart. We were looking for a good pediatrician to establish with, who LISTENS to the child as well as the parent, and takes their concerns and knowledge seriously. Works WITH them. And to discuss knee pain and getting the Covid Vaccine.
Brenda Kronborg made it very clear very early in the appointment that I wasn't allowed to talk because nothing I said could possibly have any value (that's how it felt - I wasn't trying to diagnose anything, I was trying to give her pertinent information that my 12 year old doesn't know the answer to). She may not have felt that way, but that's the impression she gave us. My daughter does NOT want to see her again, and I absolutely refuse to put her back into a situation that could further damage her self esteem and mental health. I guess sometimes 20+ years of experience isn't always the best thing. Her approach is outdated and stagnant. And very unimpressive.
This doctor gave the impression that she is pretty old school. And doesn't take into consideration what kids go through these days. She mentioned she had 6 kids who are all grown. So she may have been a decent pediatrician 10,20 years ago but she might want to stop alienating a good portion of the population by handling these kids and their parents the way she interacted with us today. It was not ok. She gave the impression that she was judging us for not having sit down family dinners every night of the week. She didn't even talk to us about what our family life is like, siblings, nothing. My daughter's mental health and self esteem took a hit today. She can't unhear those words or unfeel those feelings that Brenda Kronborg forced upton her. She went back and addressed my daughter three separate times after I told her we don't worry about those numbers. The only reason we would care is for prescribing medicine, and we aren't the doctors who do so, so we worry about her mental health just as much as her physical health so please stop. We never asked about them, that was NOT why we were there. And then she finally started saying to my daughter "Oh no, you're perfect though. You don't have anything to worry about "
.....just... What?? 🤔 I am honestly in shock. I just hope my daughter is ok, and that this hasn't triggered a major surge in her ED tendencies. I'm thankful that she has an appointment with her counselor this weekend. Maybe she'll experience some compassionate...
Read moreUpdate 7/21/22 -- Banner has managed to be even more unprofessional to the point that I will be looking for another PCP. I have already changed doctors once (from Dr Lundell to Dr Roberts) due to calls not being returned etc. Unfortunately I can never get into Dr Roberts unless it's for something that can wait a couple weeks. Yesterday I needed to be seen and I will not use Banner Urgent Care. I was scheduled with PA Justin and what I thought was a sinus infection turned out to be COVID, definitely not ideal but I was diagnosed early enough to receive medication since I am high-risk. He advised me to stop one medication and sent me on my way. On the way to the pharmacy I get a call that they are concerned because it shows to interact with a different medicine (one I can't just stop), they are waiting on a call back to see if he will change it to another available medication. Upon looking at the portal I see that as usual my medications are wrong and he documented that he told me to cut the dosage for the medication in question by half, which he didn't do. I left a message and the call was returned by Shanna who was beyond rude and unprofessional. My husband took the call as I was trying to rest. I hear him repeating himself. After he ended the call I find out the per Shanna "He did tell you that." Well, Ms Attitude, you weren't in the room and arguing with patients is not going to end well. I called back, requesting a supervisor, instead I received a call from someone in the office telling me something different, again so not appropriate. Apparently no one in management EVER wants to address these issues so I'm done. Don't waste your time or money (especially since they over-collect and delay refunds) or most importantly risk you/your family's health by going here.
So I originally gave Banner 3 stars because I like my PCP; however, I have to downgrade to 1 star due to Dr Harris. I was referred due to an issue with my hip and after 3 visits I still don't know what's wrong with it, I've gotten a different story at each visit when he deigned to speak to me at all, and the notes reference discussions that never happened. I printed all the notes today and am livid. I don't know who he was documenting about but it wasn't me. Literally every visit my diagnosis changes and on my last visit he references "current x-rays" showing yet a new diagnosis and that he spoke to me about PT which didn't happen. I have no idea what x-rays he's speaking about or the diagnosis. I knew nothing about this until I got the call from PT and called his MA who stated it was all documented. Well I have news for Dr Harris and Banner, just because he documented it doesn't mean he did it. I even tried a different Banner Orthopedist who told me to get both hips replaced at 42. When I responded to the request for my information so they could address the issue nothing was done. If you need an orthopedist don't...
Read moreRead moreMy physician, A. Amini is the absolute best primary care physician I have ever had!! I’m 35 years old and have had numerous primary care physicians.. very few good.. LOTS of badddddd in the past.. never allowing me to secure a consistent doctor patient relationship for long term oversight / treatment due to the lack of genuine care & service that was provided. This is the first time in my life I feel completely confident in that I have finally been able to secure a long term primary care physician whom every.. single.. time.. provides exceptional care, never rushes the appointment, and genuinely cares about my well being as her patient. The support staff at this location is always super friendly / helpful. Not the typical bad mood Monday ( UPDATE: 5/30/23 - STILL PHENOMENAL!! I have been a patient of Adelaide Amini (FNP) now for approximately two years. She provides the most sincere care I have ever received as a patient from any healthcare provider. She treats every single visit like it was our first visit. She NEVER rushes our appointments, answers questions thoroughly, follows up by doing exactly what she says she is going to do, shows sincere compassion that is truly genuine in nature, and she makes it very apparent her most important interest is to help her patients through whatever life hurdle they are facing. If a life hurdle is not present she celebrates the good health with you and leaves you with the feeling of strength in knowing if anything challenging does present itself to you.. she is standing there tall, right beside you.. ready to help you through any obstacle that may present itself.. sleeves rolled up, shoes tied tight, eye black striped under both eyes.. determined to help you WIN the game and overcome the obstacle! I love my doctor, Adelaide.. she truly has changed my feelings about personalized healthcare.. with Addie.. I’m not just a number.. and it’s not just a feeling she is able to give.. she makes you believe it because it’s the truth. This one is...
