We came to Raleigh for the State Fair this last Thursday, enjoyed it, but the prices there were too much for us. We left the Fair for the Art Museum to see this chamber. Lovely setting back in the woods. Squirrels skipping about. Trail from museum to get to it is pretty short. Don't recommend this for anyone with mobility issues as footing in a number of areas in the woods can be tricky. Once inside the chamber, allow a few minutes for your eyes to adjust to the darkness... visual effect in two of my photos.
It's a real shame that juveniles have tried defacing this lovely piece. A nice officer chatted with us to discover our intentions and told us about it. Why in the world would anyone hurry its demise? It can't be replaced. Such behaviors speak of delinquency, carelessness and a complete disregard -- or lack of knowledge -- of the value-added of art such as this in our communities.
