If you are looking for somewhere classy and innovative then look no further! Iris, dear restaurant attached to the North Carolina museum of art, is a beautiful atmosphere with swirling a sculpture on the walls and beautiful natural light. It does not feel overcrowded although there is enough space for a party of 16. All of the servers are very professional and helpful by guiding you on the menu. They have lots of options for people who are on special diet's, like folks who do not eat gluten or R vegan. It's nice to have an option after walking around the grounds or the museum itself to feed yourself or your family. The food is absolutely delicious and obviously crafted by someone with culinary Expertise. There are so many of flavors that go into each dish and they are plated beautiful I like the plates are pieces of art themselves. It is a great place to go for brunch on Saturday and Sunday, but I highly suggest you call and make a reservation or hold a table because it can get very busy. I give this place 5 stars and highly suggest it to anyone who is intrested and a lovely dining experience. The high ceilings really give the place an air of luxury and contribute to the culture that you might find in the Room. The options for drinks are wonderful and your server well pair them with your dish with ease. I enjoy that they have fresh juices and coffee options as well. Everything is so nice looking and a semi formal it is a great place to go on a...
Read moreMy past experience with Iris is near and dear to my heart because I hosted my Bridesmaid’s luncheon there almost 13 years ago and it was beautiful!! Fast forward to 2018, I hosted my sister’s bridesmaid luncheon here and it was a completely different experience. Unacceptable to say the least. At first, I spoke with one of the Managers, Ashley King. She was great! Very accommodating, friendly over the phone, helpful and even allowed us to personalize our menu. Unfortunately, Ashley did not work on the actual day of our event and boy could we tell. The service was horrible. The waitress was non-existent. We had a party of nine and every time we needed assistance we had to hunt her down. The manager that day was extremely condescending and obnoxiously fake and offered a lot of lame excuses. It just was not what we expected at all. And honestly, I was extremely disappointed in myself and a little embarrassed for recommending this place to my sister. I had very high expectations due to my experience 13 years ago. So if you decide to host an event at Iris, please do not go in having any expectations because it’s extremely possible that you will be...
Read moreInitially, I was utterly oblivious to the fact that this establishment functioned as a restaurant nestled within the confines of a museum. From my vantage point at the counter, I erroneously assumed it solely catered to the sale of beverages, particularly an array of coffees and juices. The presence of bottles behind the counter led me to ponder the availability of alcoholic offerings; however, I was largely convinced—about 80% certain—that beer was off the menu due to the conspicuous absence of a tap handle.
As I patiently awaited my double espresso, my attention was drawn to a nearby table where a patron was perusing the food menu and placing an order. To my surprise, I noticed staff members clearing away plates, prompting a sudden epiphany: this was not merely a purveyor of drinks but rather a full-fledged dining establishment. My curiosity piqued, I found myself intrigued by the culinary choices of the young, attractive clientele gathered around me. Yet, most seemed content to engage in animated conversation rather than place orders, likely celebrating the...
