I have had multiple cysts of different sizes on my neck for the last 15 years. 18 months ago the first of 4 cysts ended up having some kind of infection. Where they hadn't changed at all in 15 years began growing in size quickly becoming very large and eventually painful. After the first one it was every 2-4 months a different one would begin doing the same thing. I had seen through medical recommendation several different practices. All of which would prescribe antibiotics but were not comfortable surgically removing the cysts due to their location. Antibiotics would work but it would take several weeks. Finally once the last one began I was recommended to Southern dermatology by the Wakemed urgent care team in Garner. I ended up having Dr. Boyse. My last cyst had gone away by this first visit so I figured it would just be an evaluation / establish as a new patient visit. Nope! Dr. Boyse was ready to get to work right then and there! She ended up removing the largest of all the cysts I had at the time right then. I was stunned as all of these other practices were too nervous to cut them out and within 10 minutes of meeting Dr.Boyse she had my largest one removed and wanted to do more. I felt like I really needed to mentally prepare for it and asked if we could schedule the removal of them. She happily agreed and prescribed me a cream to use on my face too in between then and our next visit. I just had my second visit, Dr. Boyse and her assistant (wish I could remember her name she was great too!) We're truly awesome. I was very nervous and they did their best to make me feel comfortable. Removed nearly if not all of the cysts from my neck but also removed 2 trapped whiteheads from my nose and easily 100 blackheads from my face. Dr. Boyse & her assistant truly personify "Professional" in their field. Not only is there no question about their expertise and skill level. They also let you know they truly love what they do. I had never been embarrassed by my cysts untill they started getting these infections. Once they did I was constantly worried that another one would do the same thing which did make it embarrassing to do my job and be in public. Words cannot explain how relieved I am that I have nearly all of them removed now. Also now know where to go and who to ask for if ever a new one should appear or begin growing like the others. Once I am able to remove the bandages and stitches in a couple of weeks I will gladly post some pictures from what it looked like normally, what one of them looked like while infected and what it looks like now. I know I told them thank you 100 times already but thanks again. I am so thankful to have this issue behind me and a team I can trust should it...
Read moreLiterally the PETTIEST and most mediocre, at best, dermatology office I’ve ever dealt with and certainly the worst managed practice in Raleigh/Durham area. I have been going to this practice for years and the useless office manager decided it was worth losing a long-time patient over a $50 no-show fee for an appointment I never booked or confirmed. Apparently i had confirmed it by clicking a link via a text message that auto confirms your appointment? I certainly can’t confirm an appointment I never scheduled. In all of the years I’ve been going to this practice, I’ve never no-showed an appointment. I understand there being a fee for no-showing an anppointment annd why it’s necessary…. But I never booked a follow-up appointment and have made numerous attempts to get in touch with the office manager. In addition to their dermatology care, I have also spent several thousands of dollars on elective cosmetic procedures, which was a big mistake giving them any more of my business. All I have to show for it is a bad experience of having to have dealt with a petty, inexperienced office manager who I guess I never dealt with because they made no effort to return any of my calls, several of which were relayed by other front staff members. I had called on a few occasions to dispute the decision, only to never receive a call or email back. But, oh boy do they make sure to text, call, mail and email reminders for any past due balance that will “soon be sent to collections for non-payment” ($50). What a joke. Well, I paid it so this poor practice doesn’t blemish my credit. Best believe they will be reimbursing me my $50 back. This business has lost all respect from me due to how they manage their business, especially with long-time customers. It’s honestly gives the impression that the business is failing and is hard-up and desperate...
Read moreI have been a patient for years and initially loved them. I work nights, and had to cancel an appointment last minute due to my child being sick. I had scheduled this apt for a new growth that was rapidly changing. I, an established patient, called for an immediate appointment. Their earliest one was 2 months out. I called and called and either they were away on lunch, or I was sent to their automated voice message. I wouldn’t even say voicemail because you can’t leave a message. Lo and behold, I was charged the 50 dollars no show fee. When I called to speak with a manager, with specific days and times , they called during the opposite times that I was available. First, it took them 2 weeks to call me back the first time. Then they kept calling on hours and days that I worked. We played phone tag for atleast 2 weeks. Finally, I received a call on a Friday, April 12 at 10, stating that today was the final day to possibly have my 50 dollars waived. I called back at 12:13 and it said they were closed. Their website and voice thing state two different times on closing on Fridays. Internet states 12, voice message states 1. I then called on Monday, and never received a call back from them. But boy am I still receiving letters saying I will be taken to collections. They also lost me as a long term customer. Totally unprofessional and don’t value you as a patient, they just want your money. I found a new dermatologist who is amazing, way better than southern dermatology, with a voicemail to cancel apts for emergencies. For my new skin growth change they saw me within 2 days as a new patient. They also did a more thorough exam than southern dermatology has ever done on me. BETTER! I work in healthcare and have advised several of my colleagues and patients to avoid this place. They will lose out on a lot...
