The staff members here knows to cherish customers: I called in, asked if as a parent myself, my child is coming in tonight to celebrate her BD invited 8-10 friends, do I need to pay if I enter to watch and care for their stuffs, order food, cut cake? Yes, there is a $5 fee for non-skating adults to enter to watch the kids! So then I said I am not willing to pay, we are giving business bringing 8-10 people in, I am gonna be giving further business by ordering food and drinks, prepare cake to cut, what am I paying $5 for? The manager explained that, in the past, they had a few kids go skating along with a big bunch of adults who don't skate, it became a crowd issue, that was when the $5 started. I then said, "I can pay something but NOT $5, it should be $1", or like, every 2 kids, 1 parent enters free, or 1 kid per parent, that kind of thing. You want a family of mom and dad to bring their 2 children to skate OFTEN at your ring or not? Or charge this $5 and drive businesses away? We parents are the ones who agree for or bring our kids to go skating, charging us parents is as good as telling us-all not to go skating! The manager was nice, said okay, you can come in for free to order food, prepare the cake. It was good for me. Tonight, being Friday night, there is NO CROWD! The skating ring is quite empty. If this rink changes how they charge non-skating adults, I believe businesses would return. On top of that, can sell skate nights to different schools to celebrate promotion or other events, give discount when a big group of school students from a school go skating, like $3 entry, $2 for skates, total $5 per person. If you have 300 attending, 300 X $5 = $1,500. This is revenue within 2 hours in 1 night. If you have school group every 2-hours night in a month 6-8pm, that is $1,500 X 30 days = $45,000! Or every night, hope for 100-125 skaters to come in, paying $12-$15 to get the same $1,500? Revenue by volume. Set up policy that, all skaters must be polite and respectful, those who cut queue, fight or are quarrelsome will be made to leave without compensation. Make sure CCTV always rolling and ready to play back, have enough security staff members, and ready to call police at any time. Safe and respectful environment is where businesses thrive. Remember that when 300 skaters come in, also means more sale of pizza, nacho, drinks, LED necklaces, skate shoes, etc etc. Also can consider package, like, pay $20 upfront to skate 4 times, stamped the card every visit. Slow pizza cooking can be an issue, if can up the efficiency of cooking pizza, will only see more and...
Read moreI went to The Rink this past weekend and woah... Woah, is all that I really have to say about this place. The outside seems ran down, and it's not exactly in the best area. I decided to go to The Rink because my friends were interested in trying out a skating rink in the area. I guess a plus, would be that it's not the hardest place to find. Parking in the parking lot is okay. The parking lot when I arrived was full of around 30-40 cars, but seemed dirty. There was cups all over the parking lot, and trash scattered. I didn't let a dirty parking lot ruin the night of fun that was about to happen. We went inside the lobby area, and I have no complaints. Was easy and pretty quick to get inside seeing as there was a line of around 15 people, they did actually get us in pretty quick. Once inside I went to their skate rack to find a pair of skates. Woah, that's the next ting! The person working at their skate counter was absolutely rude, I asked for a size 8, and it was too small. I went up to the counter to exchange the pair of skates for a size nine and they called me and idiot! Are you serious? I got the wrong size skate so I'm an idiot.. Isn't that just what I wanted to hear today.. He said it to a buddy quietly as he was turning around, but I was able to hear. Throughout the night all I really did was skate with my friends. As much skating as we could do with all of the punk kids skating way too fast, and way too close to us. They were extremely rude and didn't care about anyone in their way. There was absolutely no enforcement of any type of safety rules, and the music they were playing was absolutely horrible for a public place. I will...
Read moreBrings back the nostalgia of when I was a kid. Good times and friendly staff. Fair pricing and although they don't offer birthday packages anymore, they do still allow you to bring in your own accommodations for one. On the down side, they end up playing the "happy birthday song" WAY too often, literally pretty much between every regular song was another birthday. They take song recommendations for a small fee. They have a couple arcade type games, but you have to get a game card to play which isnt really worth the hassle in my opinion. id rather have the option to use a few quarters. They did have at least one game per session, either red light green light, or the limbo, but I was disappointed that they don't seem to have a "speed skate" song anymore where they ask only experienced skaters be out there for one song. That was always my favorite part. I didn't like having to go through security with metal directors, but better safe than sorry. Very reasonable prices with long skate sessions of 2 1/2 hours with the option to extend your time for a fraction of the price. I don't know how good there rentals are because we always bring our own skates, even the kids, but they have various sized walkers which is nice for the beginners. We will surely be back again, I wonder if they offer a season pad card holder type deal? If not,...
