Most people know gamestop is pretty shady. There are plenty of videos out there from former employees of gamestop who explain exactly what goes on at these stores. Things such as targeting older or younger customers due to lack of knowledge and things like that. I never thought that I would be a target for the workers at this gamestop considering I'm in my 20s and knowledgeable of what I'm paying for and what I'm getting. I've shopped there for years and I've always found them pretty shady but it was never this bad. I went to the store to sell my xbox one 1tb console and everything went fine at first. My girlfriend wanted to buy super smash bros. Brawl after we sold the console so we got back in line. While I was in line I noticed that I had been paid less than what I was supposed to be paid so I figured they made a mistake and asked the worker there. (her name was Kaylee. There are two Kaylees at the store, one is blonde and she is the manager but the other one had brown hair and she is not the manager. I was dealing with the girl with brown hair while all this went down and not the manager, just want to clear that up.) When I asked Kaylee about being paid for a 500gb console when my console was a 1tb console she began just spewing random excuses and mumbling things saying it was the same model or something trying to say it didn't matter and that they sell for the same even though on their website it says they cost completely different prices which I had up on my phone in the store. So I decided not to make a scene and just went with it and kept my receipt and decided to call the Anderson gamestop and I asked them how much they charge for a 1tb console and he told me they costed what I should have got and I proceeded to make sure that it's the same for the Redding gamestop and he said yes. So I asked for the district manager. The worker at the Anderson gamestop was very helpful but he seemed reluctant to get the district manager involved (cant remember his name) So he told me to talk to the Redding gamestop manager before getting the district Manager involved and so I called the Redding gamestop to ask them about it again and this time I talked to the assistant manager and he explained that I can come back with my receipt and they'd see if I was right basically and sure enough when I went in there they got me my money but Kaylee which I had to go through the second time I went there, she refused to apologize or even acknowledge that she did anything wrong even when I first called her out on paying me for a 500gb console she lied about it. She didn't make a mistake, she knew what she was doing and she never even checked if it the console was a 1tb. I won't be buying anything from gamestop again. You can get anything they have online for way cheaper and you won't get scammed. If you do decide to buy or sell from them go on their website and check their trade-in prices because it'll tell you exactly what you should get for what you're selling. Gamestop is super shady I highly recommend not buying anything from them go look up info from past employees, gamestop trains you to...
Read moreWorst experience ever. I bought a rebuilt Nintendo Switch for $250 dollars. Got it home and it would not charge. Brought it back the next day and they exchanged it and were very nice about it so I bought a year warranty package. About a month later it seized up. I brought it back and they gave me another one but wanted me to pay them for another years warranty package. I told them I already bought the year warranty and they said it was no longer good. I got upset from obviously getting ripped off.
They should not sell them as yearly warranties when their product is broken and only lasted a month. When I buy a year warranty I expect to have a year warranty. Not a one time exchange on a defective Nintendo Switch (the 2nd switch) they sold me in the first place. Furthermore the long black haired manager was extremely rude and told me to get the hell out of his store. Thus far it looks like I am out $400 dollars spent on defective junk and three games I bought. I don't just throw money around and $400 dollars is a lot of money to me. I will contact Game Stop's corporate office and voice my same concerns with them. I'm sure all I will hear are crickets.
If you have hundreds of dollars to just flush down the toilet then this Game Stop store is perfect for you. I will never step foot in that...
Read moreI really only shop there because it's pretty much the only place in my town for used games and accessories. That said. It is rediculous enough to need a paid (not cheap) card to get what ought to be the regular price for the item, but now they have 2, yes 2 different "pro memberships" or "pro membership platinum" or whatever they call it. It like $20 for the original and then idk, bit over $30 for the "Platinum". They pay next to nothing when you sell or trade in your stuff. But charge a LOT for most everything. The sales people are always waisting time engaging in pointless conversations while the line sits still. I WISH THERE WERE STILL SOME ACTUAL COMPETITION, then either they'd have to do better business or I could just do without the place then actually. Also, this is something that is illegal i would imagine. They have sold opened merchandise as new to me and I've heard of them even selling used game consoles as new ones....
