Took my son in for his first haircut today. Before making the appointment, i had asked if they would donate the hair and they only responded with "it needs to be at least 10 inches long." I told them it was about 14 inches long and proceeded to make the appointment. They never clarified that they would not make the donation, they would only cut his hair and i was responsible for making the donation - they told me this only when my son had already picked his video and was ready to get onto the chair. Since i had already promised my son that i would get his hair cut today, i did not want to disappoint him so i proceeded with the appointment.
He got the worst haircut in the history of haircuts. The lady kept blaming his hair, which i bought until I got home and took a closer look. The finishing is AWFUL. His sideburns are uneven and the line at the back of his head is almost 25deg slope. Shoddy job.
Terrible salon.
Reply to your comment below - you did not mention the bit about me having to mail the hair myself until my son was almost in the chair, as mentioned above. He had been looking forward to his first haircut for a while so i could not break his little heart and go looking for a different salon at that point. When i mentioned to you the first time i spoke to you over the phone, even before you could find me a spot "i don't want to book an appointment if you don't donate the hair." Why didn't you correct me then? You misled me intentionally.
I did not notice the shoddy job until I got home and took a closer look. Apparently my husband did but he didn't say anything until we got into the car at which point he said "i could have given him a better cut." This being my first experience getting my child's hair cut, i did not know what...
Read moreSerious regrets. Maybe if you have a different stylist than Shelly, or if it's your child's first cut and you don't care how it looks, take a chance with this salon. The only upside I can think of is that they have access to appointments, which is perhaps a reflection of the popularity. Brought my 2 kids who have had many haircuts to this salon for the first time last month - ages 3 / 5 and will never come again. It looked like some of the other stylists were more proficient with modern haircuts, but working with Shelly was like time travelling to the 1980s. I tried to call before scheduling to see if there were specific stylists who might work better than others for what we were looking for and their answer was that everyone should be equally capable. When I arrived, Shelly was working on a client who was in his 60s and balding, which did not bode confidence. One of the other stylists let Shelly know her next clients were here and reminded her to look at the notes since she doesn't usually do that (which she couldn't find using her tablet and just told me we could talk about what I wanted - which was also difficult because I didn't want my kids to overhear my reticence about the cuts they wanted). It just went downhill from there. I left in shock, paid, and got out as quickly as I could. My child was so disappointed with her hair and requested to wear a hood to school. With that, I requested a refund which the owner, Tracy, argued with me for over a week, required me to send photos to prove what I was talking about, and criticized me for not speaking up more during the haircut. She also said refunding me would impact Shelly's commission, instead of owning the liability of...
Read moreI only wish I had gone to Ms. Linda sooner. My son had a lot of hair since birth, and by 20 months old I had given him around 8 haircuts. At the beginning it was fine, but they got progressively worse and he tried to grab the scissors and screamed and thrashed, even with CocoMelon and all the puffs trying to bribe him. He is normally a very calm kiddo, but haircuts were a no-go. We took said 20-month-old to Linda, and my husband and I were joking that morning about how he was going to have traumatizing day, and I was worrying about having to apologize to a stranger while he screamed.
None of that happened. He sat like a little freakin' angel as Linda gently walked him through each step, stopped when he got a bit panicked and asked if he wanted her to clean off his hands (and WAITED for him to nod yes!), and sang wheels on the bus to him while buzzing away. Clearly she's an absolute pro and has been doing this for years, but I will still incredibly impressed with the level of respect she gave to my toddler.
She even nicely narrated it to me, describing how long certain areas should be as if I was going to recreate it myself later. ABSOLUTELY NOT. I have found salvation, and I will never look back!
As an aside, I also greatly appreciated that the online booking let you know you could request your stylist to wear a mask, and we put that in the comments section when booking, and Ms. Linda was masked when we got there. It's possible she would have been either way, but it's just a little less awkward to be able to mention it beforehand and not have to request it in person when...
