Parents of Children and Teens Use Caution--Safety Alert Current as of 2/28/14, Redmond Library has become increasingly unsafe for young adults/teens and children. Even adults have felt unsafe in this library, including myself. I have been working there with students as a tutor during the last 2 years, and have observed and experienced inappropriate behavior from visitors to the library including: solicitation of a minor boy by a 30-yr-old adult male; drugs freely offered to minor teens; harassment by a male adult to myself, a female adult, more than once; plus the difficulty with viewing explicit material while using the computers. Parents beware: it is a right for persons to view explicit and inappropriate material on library computers. I have observed that persons do NOT use the privacy screen provided so teens/children should be kept away from the adult computer areas. Arguments, loud/distracting interactions within the library, plus a cloud of smoke from various smoke-types directly outside is likely to be part of your experience. You should not drop off children from your car, but walk them into the library and stay with them. Warn your teens not to receive unknown items of "candy"/drugs from persons offering it for "free". Accompany your child to the restroom and warn your teen that the restroom s/he must use is located at the end of a hall where adult males sit on the floor and stay during the day. This is not a family-friendly site and thus, I have warned the parents of my tutoring students of the dangers at this library. Don't hesitate to call 911 if you see suspicious behavior. There needs to be several complaints on the same person before police can take action to remove that person from the library. Please be serious about taking safety...
Read moreDefinitely the 0 to 1 library of all time. The worst library workers and volunteers from hell. Too much snark, and older women who talk back behind your back like a 12 year old child. One was basically telling me that my money was no good and should leave. I didn't do a single thing. So I gave my dollars and change.. told her now we're even. Did you really had to throw these dvds as hard you can on the desk. Hey Lady chill out. I'm also trying get my account unlocked because of an address.. By the way moving sucks. First time went kinda well, and she accepted the handwritten note with my address. Which it didn't make it. The second time now I need a document. So thanks for wasting my time. But today it was nothing but smack talk. I honestly felt like a highschool break up or mean girls drama. Wednesday is most Definitely the day when the homeless arrive and people going to court. All these nasty characters coming in. Also I had the worst encounters with other patrons. One, these two men were threatening to kill me over a cd. Two, a man pushed me from a desk while I was sleeping. Three. a man was stalking me from the library store until we stopped at the entrance adjacent to the Wells Fargo. he had to ask me something. I didn't hear it the first time because he was mumbling random words. Then I ask him to repeat himself. Then he said" I seen you stealing dogs from his yard." I reply "I didn't steal any dogs." Then he went across to the Redmond Parking Lot. I was glad that a person was there on the stone bench. It could've been worst. The store could be better the prices are a bit steeped at times. But the nonetheless I'll still be...
Read moreLibrary did it's best to accommodate changes due to the ongoing pandemic. They've good collection of books. Multiple services can still be used online & by in-person appointments.
Additional star for the very helpful gentleman keeping the area clean on 12/5/20 am. I had to return a book. I reached the library around 9.30 before their opening time (Sat @ 10). I could see through the glass door that the library staff inside was getting ready to setup their table out (COVID-19 changes); one of them told me she'll be with me soon. While I was waiting, this kind gentleman, who was changing the covers by the can, politely offered to drop off the book on my behalf. He explained me the process on how a return box will be setup outside. When I accepted his offer, he carefully placed my book with a DVD (I am positive he helped someone else that chilly morning) right by the book-pickup-table. Thanks to him, I was able to get the early...
