It isn’t easy to find a repair shop that will work on electric scooters in general. Add to that my sons scooter is fairly unique and I wasn’t sure I would find someplace that would fix our 2 flat wheels. After searching the internet I found Beachside bike Repairs and not only were they willing to do the repairs they were actually familiar with my sons scooter. I prepared myself that the scooter would be in the shop and getting repairs for an extended period. To my surprise they were able to work on the scooter the very next business day. I brought the scooter in late morning and I was immediately greeted by very friendly staff. He was very engaging and definitely knew his stuff when it came to scooter repairs. He gave me an accurate quote for the necessary repairs and promised to be completed before the store closed that same day. I went home and before my kids were even done with school for the day I received a text that the scooter was ready. I picked up my son and we raced back across the west side to get back to the shop. After several detours and a police barricade we finally made it back to the shop. Our technician was equally friendly with my teenager and the scooter was back working honestly better than brand new. My son is delighted to have his wheels back. We have already told other friends about Beachside Bikes when they need work on their e-scooters. The only complaint I have about our experience is that I wish the shop was closer to my area because it is a schlep to get all the way to...
Read moreI do not like to leave negative reviews and I rarely do but I couldn’t let this one go. I dropped off an e-bike battery to Beachside Bike & E-Bike Rentals & Repairs because the charge port on it had stopped working. The battery still tested with good voltage, and I was able to charge it manually using the de-charging leads. I dropped the battery off May 10, 2023 and they gladly accepted it and said they could make the repair. For more than 2 weeks I followed up regularly by text (3-4 times a week) and they never responded. I finally reached Sebastian over the phone on May 29, 2023 and he said he would look into it immediately. Another week went by and on June 3, 2023 I finally received a text response saying; “Sorry to inform you but your battery is no good”. My battery tested good when I dropped it off so this was very disconcerting. If they could not repair a battery charge port, they should not have accepted my battery. To leave me waiting a month and then tell me my $600 battery is no good is just not acceptable. I would not trust them with anything valuable or expect follow-through or even reasonable service. It’s now July and they still have not returned my battery. I could have driven to City of Industry to a battery specialist, instead I trusted them. I would recommend you do not make the same $600...
Read moreI rented from the Manhattan Beach location about two months ago and had a great experience, so this time I wanted to start my ride from their Redondo location. Unfortunately, the experience wasn’t nearly as smooth.
Pros:
Fair pricing compared to other bike rental shops in the area.
Cons:
The shop didn’t open on time. We showed up at 10:00 as posted (and the time we reserved the bikes for), but no one was there. When I texted the manager, his response was simply to “wait around and someone should be there or rebook for another day.” No apology, no concern—just dismissive.
Service wasn’t very welcoming or helpful overall.
Out of the four bikes we rented, three were in pretty rough shape despite being advertised as “new.” One even needed a quick repair, which forced us to swing into their Manhattan Beach shop to get it fixed.
If I had to choose between the two locations, I’d hands down go with Manhattan Beach. The Redondo shop really needs to step up its service and bike maintenance if they want to match the standard of their...
