Lived here for 3mo so far. Tl;dr this is the WORST APARTMENT MANAGEMENT I've ever interacted with, they have ignored many of my complaints (for example I still have yet to receive a working fob to access the doors on the premises). If you want a nice view in a relatively new/clean apartment complex and don't expect to ever get into problems that you need to rely on the management for though, this would be a decent choice.
Pros: The view of the ocean if you have a beach facing apartment The common areas are kept relatively clean When I put in service requests, they're addressed by the live-in maintenance person relatively promptly There are lots of tenants with cute doggies
Cons: We didn't receive our mailbox keys until close to 2wks after moving in, despite sending multiple emails within that time and not getting any answers. It was only after I emailed them about how preventing access to a working mailbox is a federal crime under Title 18 of the U.S. Code did someone reply (within a few hours at that) We have yet to receive a working fob that opens any doors on the premises besides our own apartment door. The management said they would email once the issue is fixed but we've moved in for almost 3 months and this has yet to be rectified. We have to use a phone app (Stratis) to access the building, but if I forget my phone even when I bring my keys then I would be locked out. Even though this is a relatively large complex, there is rarely ever a bell cart available. I've seen one bell cart in this whole complex that appears maybe 2 days out of the week. When we just moved in we wanted to use the bell cart but the live-in maintenance person who I could manage to contact said someone else just moved in on the same day so it wasn't available. The next day comes (we left many of our belongings in the car to wait for the bell cart) and it's still nowhere to be seen. When I emailed the management, they said it's available on a "first come first serve basis" and recommended that I "hire movers". Yeah ok thanks so much for that super easy, not costly solution... When we moved in (we never viewed this specific apartment beforehand because it was still occupied when we toured), the bathtub had dried gum and dirty shoe prints. I also discussed this in an email but they never responded about it There's no cellphone signal (we use Verizon) on the first 2 floors of this building, supposedly because of the cement walls for the parking garage. This causes issues for us accessing the building because while the Stratis app senses doors through bluetooth, you need data/wifi access to open and load the app first. When we're in the garage and don't have data nor wifi access (there is wifi on the first 2 floors in the common areas), we wouldn't be able to open/use the app The management office doesn't seem to be open often when I walk by (I paid extra attention when I was trying to get my mailbox key for those first 2 weeks I moved in since I couldn't find someone to talk to in person, I haven't paid as much attention these days). They also started doing this thing where you have to make an appointment first online to talk to them. Fyi the phone number you can call goes to a call center and the operators don't actually know much about the apartment (I also called a lot when I first moved in/was trying to get my mailbox key). I was never able to reach an actual person who worked at 650 Ocean, all the operator would say is they will send a message for me but I never got a response from the property management that way There are so many delivery boxes that are never organized so it can take a long time to sift through everything to find your packages. (Only ~1/5 of my packages actually get put into a ParcelPending box when they're delivered. I use Amazon mostly)
Edit Replying to the response for my review: How about you email us first for once, I'm done sending emails and getting no response or a meaningless generic response. You should be able to figure out my name and unit number based on the...
Read moreThis is a horribly managed building. I’d pick a different one on this street if you’re looking to move to revere beach. We moved in during august 2020 and have dealt with the following issues: two separate occasions, bike was stolen from the $10/month, “secure” bike room. Management told us they are aware how criminals can break through the door and they literally ripped the entire rack off the wall to steal our bike. This happened twice within a few months so I wouldn’t recommend bringing your bike. multiple water leaks and fire alarms that have forced building evacuations in the middle of the night and during the work day, and closed the elevator the building next door is under construction so I definitely wouldn’t live on the side of the building if moving in management is currently undergoing a forty five day cleaning project and just told us to stop using our balconies and opening windows and to remove interior wall hangings for a month and a half while they do work with no accommodation for residents pool has been constantly closed for “work” as well as covid the dog park is no longer available but dogs still pee there so the side of the building smells very strongly like urine and nobody cleans it. when we moved in, the person in the leasing office had so little clue about her job that she actually told us to come get our keys after business hours on a Saturday night. If we hadn’t disregarded that we would have been waiting until Monday to move in (and homeless for two days) we call and ask a question to the office and they always answer that they have no idea, about simple things like where to put flattened boxes they have no clue how to manage assigned parking spaces, it took almost four tries for them to assign us spots that weren’t in use and even then, they billed parking incorrectly for eight months. tons of dogs barking in the building
EDIT: Bailey (the new property manager) has done a lot for us over the past couple of days to remedy some of our specific issues and complaints. The above things were super frustrating while we lived here but it’s clear that she is putting a lot of time and effort into building improvements and new staffing so that things run more smoothly in the future. Her customer service to us has been much better than we got from the employees we had dealt with when we moved in. Upgrading from 1 star to 3 because it’s clear they understand the issues and are...
Read moreI moved into this building in 2022 and the building was managed by a man named Justin who cared about the building and its residents. Since then, the building manager has changed every few months, and the quality of managers has suffered more and more with every transition. Even though the building manager lives on site, from Friday night to Monday night, there is no one to call to report an emergency like a fire or noise complaint; residents are only given a general email address and phone number to a recording to use if, for example, one of the grills catches on fire on a Saturday (which actually happened and luckily a group of residents put it out).
In addition to no one managing the building three days out of the week, the main elevator of the building has been broken for almost two months (which I’m pretty sure is illegal and a fire hazard), the door on the side of the building hasn’t been locked in months so anyone can walking into the building off the street, and the elevators regularly have puddles of dog piss in them…I could go on but I think I’ve made my point. A year and a half ago I would’ve praised this building and told everyone to live here. Now, I honestly can’t do that in good conscience. The management company is clearly too far removed to care to look into the quality of on-site leasing/building managers they are are staffing here. The building maintenance is actually usually great and respond quickly to tenant requests, but the main elevator has still been inoperable for nearly 2 months, and the fire alarm goes off at LEAST once every month and a half for no explained reason to residents ever.
Live in one of the 12 other buildings on the beach to choose from. This one sadly isn’t even what it used to be and seems to increasingly be getting worse. Greystar is getting quite the reputation in the Boston area for negligence, inequity, and an overall lack of involvement and care for the residents in its buildings. If the staff and condition of the building improve, I’ll be the first to replace this review with a glowing recommendation and really hope I get that opportunity to do so, because I loved living...
