(01/25/24 - @2pm) I live in a house where to study in silence is not an option , I have roommates and it’s a lot of in and outs all day. So, I looked for the closest library in the area so I could read my books and study in silence. So I came to the Revere Public Library thinking I was gonna find that quiet place I was looking for …. But I was wrong , as I entered the building that was a girl at the desk “working” there, reading a book, and she didn’t even look at me til I asked her if that was quiet place I could study , and she said anywhere I could find a seat , and mentioned that there were seats / tables upstairs… so I chose upstairs, since that was only 1 guy there in his computer, so as I get my material out of my backpack, that guy takes a phone call, that went on for a while , so I kindly asked him if he could take his call outside , and not at the library (detail, that was a sign about him that says phones should be in silent mode, and to be QUIET!) I pointed to the sign so he could have a clue, but he ignored me and kept talking on the phone…. I went down to the 1st floor and told the girl (that looked very happy to be working there. NOT) and her answer to me was “well……it’s impossible (for the LIBRARY) to be a quiet place, since that were ESL classes there (on the 1st floor) I was like “well…. then MAYBE, you should remove the sign that says “NO PHONES, BE QUIET PLEASE” upstairs. She rolled her eyes at me , basically taking the side of the guy that was on the phone AT THE LIBRARY UNDER THE SIGN THAT SAYS NO PHONES”!!!!! At this point I gave up and saw that it would be better for me to sit in my car in the parking lot if I wanted a quiet place to study! It’s a Terrible “Library” , unfriendly people woking there and frequented by people with no manners whatsoever. So if you need a quiet place to study, read a book , do researches…. DO NOT come to this Library. I will def never set foot...
Read moreI was really disappointed with my recent visit to this library. I came on a Sunday with my family, only to find out they’re closed, which was frustrating since weekends are the only time we can visit. When I finally came during the week, it was clear the place was short-staffed compared to other public libraries in the area.
I had to wait a long time just to get basic help, and when someone was finally available, they seemed overwhelmed and rushed and did not have experience conducting reference interviews.
There was no dedicated reference librarian or reference desk upstairs, which made it hard to get the in-depth assistance I needed for my school research project.
The staff who were there did their best, but it’s obvious they’re spread too thin. A public library should be accessible and properly staffed to serve the community’s needs, but this one misses the mark. I left feeling more frustrated than helped and won’t be returning unless major improvements are made.
Also, there is no elevator to reach upstairs for my elderly parents which...
Read moreRevere Public Library was closed...completely closed 😯 The Library has posted a sign at the front door that adult part of building is closed under construction to go around to back door entrance to children library to enter the facility but this door was shut closed too with a posted sign that reads: They open from 8am to 8pm Mon-Fri but the entire library was closed and it was very frustrated for me as for other two young ladies sitting in the back outdoors. These missionary young ladies needed to study. One is teaching chinese and the other one spanish. Very pleasant to talk with respectful but frustrated as I was too. They made a call to the library from the backyard to no avail....Revere Public Library 👎..citizens need answers! Everyone's time...
