Since childhood this has been my favorite park to visit, so my opinion may be a bit bias. I think the space alone sets it apart from all other parks in Rio Rancho. In addition, however, there are several amenities that are availabor that I believe sets it further apart from the others. Bocce Ball courts are a huge plus. Therw are only two parks that I know of that have actual Bocce courts in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho, this being one of them. There are also Tennis Courts, Basketball Courts, tons of open grass area for Football or Soccer, or even just tag, or other kids games. There are obviously playgrounds, Basketball courts, a large amount of sidewalk space which is nice for getting exercise, or if you're a kid, riding your new motorized plastic dream-car around. Just today my daughter drove by Batman 😳. Not to mention, there is a public pool, a rec center (although not sure if this is still functioning) on site public restrooms located conveniently near the playgrounds, and various picnic/grill/canopy areas around the park. There is also a area for horseshoes and a set up area for Volley Ball that I almost forgot about. And a lot of...
Read moreI recently visited the ever-popular Haynes Park, and let me tell you, it was a zoo. Just the spot if you love massive crowds!
I could barely find a parking spot with the chaotic sea of cars spilling out of the lot. And making my way anywhere in the park was next to impossible with hordes of people swarming every inch like ants at a picnic. Excellent for some personal space!
The playground was straight-up overwhelmed by shrieking kids running wild. Don’t even think about actually using the equipment - the lines were ridiculous. Try again never!
And the walking paths and fields? Just forget about having any room to move around and y’know, walk or play sports. They were more congested than downtown at rush hour. I adore weaving through mobs of bodies just to get from point A to B!
By the end of my visit, I was cramped, cranky, and desperate for an oxygen mask. But for folks who thrive in crowded, chaotic environments, Haynes Park is the place to be! It’s bustling energy at its finest - if you rather enjoy your parks overrun. An absolute must-visit for fans of no personal space and...
Read moreMy review of: Haynes Park
This park is like a central hub for the entire community located right across from the Intell plant. There is plenty of parking in their 2 large parking lots at opposite ends of the park.
The play ground is very large, is filled with wood chips, has a lot of play equipment and a lot of swings. There are restrooms, water fountains and picnic tables. There are tennis and basketball courts, a swimming pool, soccer field, horseshoe games and a large gazebo. The water retention basins are decorated very tastefully and look beautiful.
I did not see a dog park area here, just the "No Dog Allowed" signs. There is a huge dead tree trunk standing straight up in the middle of the park. I don't know the story behind that. Perhaps they are waiting for the wood to cure enough to carve it.
There are plenty of benches to sit on and some picnic tables by the basketball courts but for picnic's you need to bring your own...
