I had known about this butcher shop for a long time, but never bought anything until recently. I just assumed it would be very expensive and until recently I haven't felt like I could splurge like that. But my daughter was talking about how much she was craving a filet, but they were so expensive. So, I told her if she would cook them, I would stop at Rio Rancho Meats and pick up a 6 oz filet for the 6 of us in her family. First of all the six filet came to a bit less that a filet dinner with a drink in almost any restaurant in town. And they were delicious. The family decided instead of having Turkey for Thanksgiving we were going to have cheesburgers instead. Once again I went to Rio Rancho Meats and picked up 2 and a half pounds of their 90/10 hamburger. It actually wasn't much more expensive than meat from Smith's, and all we did to season the burgers was a bit of salt and pepper on the burgers when we cooked them in a cast iron skillet. We are going to go back. We are wanting to slow cook a brisket in the oven for Christmas and I think we will buy the brisket...
Read moreIn 2020 when COVID first started I freaked out about food and started prepping... I walked into Rio rancho meats and asked if the meat was grass fed, the lady brushed me off like "yeah sure whatever you want, picky white lady" so I don't believe they are grass fed but I bought a large meat package anyway. It's 2025 and I have just used my last chuck roast from the deep freezer. It was amazing and not freezer burnt in the least. My dog always gets my freezer burnt cuts and has been so disappointed when I pull meat from the paper packs in the deep freezer. She's guaranteed cuts from Styrofoam and plastic wrapped meat no matter how long it's been in there. I will definitely consider buying from them again if I panic and need to "prepper" again. I would consider buying all the time if I knew it was certified grass fed and antibiotic/hormone free and the chickens were free range and hormone free. I really like that I can store the meat for 4 years without an issue. Thanks Rio...
Read moreWorse effing customer service ever. I called last week to see when I might come, as I heard there were lines. I have disabilities and canât wait in a line. After approximately 7 minutes on hold, I was told to âcome now, but canât say if there will be a line in 10 minutes.â Big help (sarcasm). Then I asked whether a turkey or ham would be better. I was put on hold again and then transferred to some airhead who seemed to think there was something wrong with me for asking this question. Now today I called to see if there was a line. Due to my last experience, I was already in my car. But this time I was told there was a line. When I asked how long, I was told it would be a while before she could answer me. I hung up and turned around from going in there and went home. Screw you if you treat people like that. You might have a lot of customers now, but I guarantee you wonât much longer if you keep treating...
