So very disappointed with my order placed on 5/7/21. I've previously gotten sushi and ramen (with pork char siu) at Nori (take out only) and really enjoyed it. We decided to try something a little different this time and ordered the Gyoza, Yakisoba (pan fried noodles) and Tonkotsu Ramen with pork. First, I will say that the gyoza and yakisoba were tasty. However, the serving size for the price of both items was extremely disappointing. The gyoza was $6.55 for 5 small pieces. Honestly, there's another restaurant I go to often and the serving size is 8 large pieces for the same price, so I was a little surprised by getting 5. Even more disappointing was the pan fried noodles. Again, they were tasty and the chicken in the dish was very good. However, this definitely was not worth $13. Honestly, it should have been $8-9 for the serving size that was given. There wasn't even a full layer of noodles in the container (see pic). Lastly, and most disappointing was the Ramen. I've had it before and it was amazing. However, this time I ordered the regular pork (not the char siu) and the pork itself was absolutely disgusting. It was completely overcooked, chewy and also some pieces were "stringy". Honestly, it was inedible. I had to throw it out.
My guess is that they had an off night, which happens and is understandable...for the Ramen. However, the other 2 items I received weren't worth the price for the serving size. I don't know if that's always the size given, but if it is I wouldn't order that in the future, just because it's not worth the money.
Previously and especially now I've been trying to support local business and I understand that things are hectic for them. However, in this situation it didn't seem like they were busy at all (no orders on take out table and only 2-4 diners in the restaurant), so I'm not sure why the quality and quantity was the way it was. This definitely was not worth the almost $40 (including tax and tip) that I paid for this. I could have gone elsewhere and gotten more food for a lot less money, and likely not received an inedible dish as well. This is why people go to chain restaurants. Maybe not the most inventive or unprocessed foods, but there's consistency. For better or worse, you know what you'll get at chains.
I may go back to Nori for their sushi and maybe Ramen (only with the char), but otherwise I won't be ordering any other dishes off their menu. Just not worth the money frankly.
I do hope others have good experiences with them and they continue to do well as a local...
Read moreI would love to leave zero stars, but google doesnt allow that. We try to spend money locally and used to love eating here at Nori, so for my birthday lunch at work I once again chose Nori. We placed a very large order expecting the same great customer service and same great food and every one of us in the office were excited! Well that all changed with a phone call from one of the staff at Nori. Our lunch break is at noon and Nori opens at 11 so we asked if the order could be ready for pickup by 1145 giving the restaurant plenty of time to prepare and us plenty of time to get the food back to the office in time for lunch. Staff member M.Dixon called and told us that although their sushi chef is scheduled at 11am, he "always shows up late" and that our order would be ready "maybe by 1215 or 1230 hopefully if he shows up" this creates a big problem because by the time the food got back we wouldn't have time to eat. The gentleman didn't offer any kind of solution or ask if that was OK, he just very matter of factly told us we couldn't have our order when we needed it. Left with no choice I called and spoke to him again and told him if that was the case we would have no choice but to cancel and get food elsewhere. He said Ok and I asked if there was anything else I needed to do to cancel the order or to help make it any easier to show no hard feelings and he rudely replied, "well it says cancelled, so..." and with that our history with Nori comes to a very unfortunate end. We will not be dining here nor recommending nori any longer. Hopefully they can make the changes necessary to once again become the wonderful place we used to love coming to for delicious food and wonderful customer service, but until those changes are made, we will not be coming...
Read moreBad food, bad service, bad management. We ordered dumplings, salmon salad, and two rolls. The dumplings were good, but the salmon in the salad was still ice cold and the Chile dressing on it was overpowering. The sushi rolls both had overcooked, bad tasting rice wrapped around very warm and grey fish and imitation crab. I normally love imitation crab, we tried the crab and fish and it tasted like it had been left out at room temp all day. We asked to see a manager about the food quality and it took about ten minutes for anyone to come back to us. The manager told us the rice has to be kept warm per the health dept. (Apparently only at this restaurant, any other sushi place I know this is not the case) and she basically just told us we were wrong that the food didn't taste good. We had only taken one piece of each plate to sample, we didn't eat half of it before complaining, but when we told her we would pay for the dumplings but not the rest, she said they could only take 25% off.. so they charged us $35 for a table full of foid we walked away from. She asked if we wanted anything to take home and we laughed and said we don't want it here why would we want it anywhere else? She gave us an excuse that they were new and she kept asserting that the food was good, and people liked it, even though we hated it. We like trying new places, we Love Sushi Xuan on Golf Course, and three other sushi places around here are decent, no complaints usually, but this food was awful to the point we couldn't have finished it if we tried. Also, for service, they got our drink order wrong from the start and they seemed overwhelmed by the place being half full of seated customers. We would not recommend anyone go here, we will...
