The first thing I noticed walking into this new establishment , passing through the bright red doorways, was seeing how warm the atmosphere of the place is. Highly polished wood, shiny brew tanks and a gorgeous bartop with inlaid lighting. High ceilings with flags of Norse ravens Hugin and Munin along with chalkboard menus describing the wares and history of this Meadery complete the look of the tasting room. Immediately I was greeted with a smile from the staff, and I was introduced to Dan, one of the Four Brothers. We had a great visit, talking mead, brewing, military and hopes for the future. I made a purchase of two bottles, one of Aesir Moon, a traditional mead made with a hint of orange peel, and a new addition to the menu, Ironsides Reign, a blackberry mead. I'm not too proud to say that the Aesir Moon didn't last two hours in my hands. I'm not normally much of a drinker, but I do have some mead making experience of my own, and I couldn't stop myself. I'm keeping the Ironsides Reign in reserve for a special occasion, but foresee myself keeping a rotating stock of the other varieties in the very near future. I can't say enough about the quality of the product. It's fantastic. Great mead, great people, beautiful place, and Veteran Owned to boot. I encourage everyone to stop in and support these...
Read moreFour Brothers Mead has the most welcoming atmosphere and delicious mead. It is not a bar, it is not a place to get drunk and forget about your problems. It is a place to have a glass or two of mead while chatting with the four brothers, any of the fantastic staff, or fellow mead lovers about the good things in life.
If you're new to mead, they offer flights where you can sample any 6 flavors of their standard and rotational flavors. But my favorite part, they give back to Veteran and First Responder organizations.
You can join the Mead Club (the cost of a bottle each month) to receive a bottle of mead of your choice each month, and a portion of the membership gets rolled into a pot for their Quarterly donations. There are also events where club members get VIP access as well as priority on new flavors. Seriously the best deal for any club membership.
If you're local, give them a try. If you're not local, they are stocked at many retail locations around Missouri, and they also deliver to several...
Read moreFour Brothers Mead is exactly what the business name implies...Mead. For those unfamiliar with the taste of mead it isn't beer nor wine. I consists of the main ingredient, honey. Four Brothers has a pretty solid selection of home grown mead to choose from. The Viking style vibe you get from inside is pretty cool. The place is very clean and has an outdoor in the back. Firepits lit during the cold snaps. They place a tasting on a wooden tree platform with six different meads to taste. Watch out because mead is about 16% alcohol. My favorite is their YGGDRASIL Maple. We learned they use maple from their personal owned tree orchard they have in (I think) Connecticut. Pretty nice. The taste for this baby is awesome. I bought a bottle on the way out. Friendly service, very pleasant vibe (laid-back) and does have a few TV's for events or just simple entertainment. It is also located/connected to an eatery next door in case...
