The Prom Store — Local services in River View Township

Beautiful selections here, very organized, and most of the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It is a great experience for teens to be able to go somewhere to try on beautiful dresses to see what their sizes are and see which fits, colors, and styles they prefer. However I need to give a less than great review because of the embarrasment I felt. The gal who helped my two daughters was very pushy about wanting to make sure we bought the one that my daughter really liked even though it was far out of the budget we listed on her check-in tablet. I would highly advise that the staff be trained NOT to ask people why they want to shop around or where they are going or tell them they won't find anything else over and over because some of us do not have the budget for that one special dress our daughter might like and we do not want to say that out loud in front of them or a bunch of strangers. We want to shop around for a chance to find something similar that is in our budget. And because I wouldn't buy it right there on the spot she repeatedly asked why and made me feel like she was upset that I wanted to keep looking. So I told my girls to make sure to thank her on our way out and as we walked out she wouldnt even look at us while my girls thanked her and it felt like it was because we didnt buy the dress right then and there. Please hold the attitude when people tell you thank you but no thank you, because it's respectful to respect the choice of the person with the pocketbook without making it an embarassing situation. You don't have to be rude. Would you want to take that amazing experience away from teenage girls trying on dresses just because mom can't afford that one special dress? Should we just not have come in to try anything on? That's how it felt when being questioned again and again on why in the world I would want to shop around before making a final decision. I brought two Thai exchange students in to try on homecoming dresses. We went in with a budget in mind and found a lot of the dresses were pretty costly. However, my one student found a beautiful dress that she had to have. I had asked both students to really consider before buying because there was a no refund policy in place and to also check with their parents before committing to spending money. Somehow the translation from Thai Bhat to American dollars didn’t compute and my student overspent her budget. I went online to ask if the store would make an exception for my Thai - since it had been only hours after purchase and other than trying it on, it hadn’t been worn. I asked if it they would either allow her a full refund or to have store credit so she could find a cheaper dress to wear and have some money towards her prom dress. I didn’t receive any kind of response, so I called into the store. The manager asked if I understood there was absolutely no refunds. I said I did understand but my Thai didn’t understand the cost of the dress. I was assured that the owner would contact me to see if something could be done or if she would just stick with company policy. I never received a call back at all. Three stars are because the experience in the store was wonderful. However, the lack of customer care after purchase cannot be ignored. We have hosted 19 previous exchange students before our Thai. Thank you and you’re wonderful doesn’t seem like enough. My daughter and I were defeated and exhausted from spending an entire day trying to find a prom dress. She found a style she liked but could not find her size or the color she wanted. The local shops we tried were not interested in trying to see if they could order one and get it to us in time, we had one shop recommend buying the size 20 and having it altered to the size 4 we needed. After 8 hours we came home and tried to locate the dress online finding a spot in New York that wanted triple what the Omaha location wanted I decided to do a little more digging. I found the prom store online but could not find the dress she wanted. I chatted online with Brittany(could be wrong) who was absolutely amazing! Not only did she locate the dress for me but confirmed she could get it ordered and called the store and gave them all the info that was needed for me to just call and pay for it over the phone. When I called the gentleman was so kind and pleasant. The dress arrived and is beautiful and exactly what she wanted. This is my daughters senior prom but with this experience if I had to do it again we would make a road trip out of it and head to your store.
