
So with the new year coming in I decided I want to sign back up. I was a previous member of the planet fitness on Tara Blvd and always had a good experience with them but they built a new location in riverdale which was closer to my home. I went with my bestfriend who had resigned up the day before. I stopped at the counter and I was advised that because they couldn't draft the 10.00 out of my account was charged 10.00 a month+ 10.00 late fee for each month they couldn't draft. I asked them well how much do I owe they advised 50.00 (still not understanding why the 50.00 is not an even number if they are charging 20.00 a month) I decided to pay it and swiped my card and told my bestfriend to start working out I would join after I completed the resign up. After I swiped my card the young lady looked confused she then told me she need to swipe my card for another 10.00. She then told me she couldnt charge me for the entire 50.00 She originally charged only 40.00. I told her ok but because you have to swipe my card twice I want to pay the 1.00 promotional + 3.29 proration fee which the 2 girls that were there couldnt explain proration (please make sure everyone that is on staff understand the word first then be able to explain what days were being prorated) there was one gentleman who was finally able to explain that. I told her I had the cash she said ok. She took me over to the tablets to sign up and then she said she needed my card again!!! I told her no and could she get a manager (by this time I had been there for 45 min) the young manager lady I think her name was Tiffany advised she would need to charge my card again. I told her I have alerts on my bank card to not except any merchant making 3 transactions in the same day (I have had fraud happen to my account) she advised there was nothing she could do. I then walked over to my bestfriend to let her know I was leaving and the manager told me I couldn't stand near the treadmill since I didn't pay the 4.29 to sign up but she took my 50.00. I have been a member and it used to be ok to even view the gym without signing up. I just thought the manager was unbelievably rude, and lacked compassion even after she advised the "flawed computer system" which doesn't allow them to charge a total amount. Twice now I have been allowed to workout and none of the employees who take my key card and scan me in made me aware that my account was still pending a payment. So Twice now, I have had to explain how unprofessional it is for planet fitness (not to mention, a little embarrassing for me the customer) to overlook these notices and allow me to workout and never bringing it to my attention that they are having problems charging my card. I'm not looking for a free place to sweat, I just want to workout without spending more than $20 to do so. The guy who signed me up never said that prepaid cards were not allowed as a form of payment so for 2 months I have been thinking I'm making payments when in all actuality nothing has been resolved. Communication is very important in everything. People don't read, not even me most of the time. As a employee bringing ppl into membership type of business, it is your responsibility to hit all areas of your sign up process when taking in new members. I am coming from LA Fitness and changing my membership so I am unfamiliar with your rules and policies, so take the time to explain that to me at my initial sign in. When you fail to do that and issues like this come up, who's fault is it for miscommunication? The company/Business/Gym! This new facility on HWY 85 needs better training of its employees and its regular sales associates need to be able to speak up when they notice discrepancies on an account and not just the manager on duty stop me to explain to me how they should have said something to me. Clean. Positive environment. But needs to work on its customer service and client relations. No one should have to experience this. It would be a different story if I were made aware from sign up that my prepaid card would not be accepted. I will take responsibility for not reading whatever notices that were present, however, if you take my info hand me a key card and tell me I'm good, what am I suppose to think when you say we don't accept prepaid cards? What type of system are you running on that can't recognize a prepaid bank routing number verses a actual big bank...

The #2 thing I always look for is the hours and days of operation. The #3 thing I always look for is the customer service of the staff,, and the final thing I always look for is the types of equipment they have to offer. I was in the United States Marine Corps for 8 years and have been to several gyms all over the world,, if you want a good workout in a peaceful environment, this is the place for you. Even though i'm use to the hardcore gyms where people get pumped up and shout ,, I would still recommend Planet Fitness,, especially this location in Riverdale. I was a member a couple of years ago at the Homestead , Florida location but my membership had expired. I just recently moved here 1 year ago and decided to join La Fitness,, then YouFit. La Fitness had bad customer customer and the place is filthy,, also the hours didn't work for me after I decided to change jobs,, then I decided to join YouFit in Riverdale once they had open,, same problem. They have poor customer service,, the place is nasty,, also the next nearest YouFit was like 40 minutes away. I like to try different locations sometimes and I'm not driving 40 minutes just to do that. Now,, you have 3 Planet Fitness within 10 miles,, and that's great. I decided to come back to Planet Fitness once I heard there was a new location opening up. This location in Riverdale is much better than the one I stay close to in Jonesboro.
