Disappointed with UCR Extension ESL Programme
My two quarters in the UCR Extension ESL programme were quite disappointing. My stay at UCR Extension was unsatisfactory due to the programme structure and advisor.
Most importantly, the ESL programme was lacking. Disorganised curriculum failed to meet pupils' various requirements. Even though I worked hard on the courses, the teaching approaches were ineffective and unengaging. Materials were obsolete and lacked real-world language application.
Additionally, my advisor was unresponsive and disrespectful. I repeatedly asked for help but was ignored. Unwelcoming advisors caused irritation and helplessness. I was disappointed to receive no explanation or support despite my programme issues.
My biggest issue was the advisor's refusal to explain the program's flaws. The advisor was apathetic and unapologetic, neglecting student concerns and areas for growth. This lack of accountability made me feel like a student was undervalued.
