Escape Eight — Attraction in Rock Hill

Such a fun experience!!!

On Saturday me and party (8 of us) booked the Christmas themed room at 4pm. This was the first experience for half of our party and the other half had experienced escape rooms before. We were all excited to do this as a family. Upon entry we knew this room would definitely be more difficult than expected but we were up to the challenge. Our first weird experience came a few minutes into the room, when my niece pull the boxing tape clue off the floor and the game master seemed annoyed that she had moved the tape, the numbers were worn off of the tape and we had to hold it up to the light to see. It sort of threw off our concentration because of the tone, and the game master obviously wasn’t in character throwing off the experience. Once we made it into the second room, we continued to have more unprofessional experiences with the game master. We were told we shouldn’t be working separately (even though our party of 8 was working in small teams to cover the several locks), we were told to calm down several times, and at one point as we were about to run out of time we were celebrating as we were close to opening a lock the game master barked that were were too loud. Each interruption by the game master that was not a clue for the game was disruptive and took away from the potentially immersive experience that we know is possible at...

This was a great experience! My sister and I took on the Room 1306 escape room on our own. It was challenging enough that we needed a couple hints but also easy enough to find clues and piece together most puzzles at a decent rate. It was immersive (especially the last room) and had a wide variety of clues and puzzles. We have found that some escape rooms are lacking in props, immersion, and/or interesting pizzles, but this room was great at all three. On top of that, our gamekeeper, Lauren was a wonderful host. She was accommodating, pleasant to talk to, enthusiastic, and willing to guide us with hints in a way that didn't just spoon feed us the answer. The experience was wonderful and the employee that was working was more than helpful. However…

The establishment loses two stars because, as we were talking to the helpful employee about a prior room we had failed to complete and we mentioned which room it was, one of the other employees standing around LAUGHED AT US. They literally laughed at our supposed stupidity in failing to escape the room. I guess we’re not so great at doing this, but it’s fun and we enjoy it, win or lose. Well, it was fun, and we DID enjoy it, until we got laughed at and made fun of by a member of staff. Now it’s not fun anymore.
