My husband, son and I traveled to Rock Hill for a soccer tournament taking place nearby so chose this hotel based on the fact that it's only five minutes from the soccer park, was affordable, allowed pets and had an indoor pool (for some fun after the games). While it had all of that, we did not have a great experience and I'll say that we are generally pretty easy travelers and forgive a lot and expectations match what we spend but that being said, the whole hotel felt grimy indoors and out. The hallway carpets were frayed and looked dirty. The water fountains in the lobby didn't work. The hotel gym was not open for use with no explanation as to why. The grounds outside were covered with cigarette butts and generally looked uncared-for. The stairwells were GROSS...trash, dead roaches, spills that clearly had been there a long while. Our room smelled like wet dog (granted, we did travel with a dog so were assigned to a pet room) and we're not 100% sure the sheets and comforter were clean. There was what looked like dog pee on the doors of the bedroom. The bathroom was clean but worn. The sofa was saggy and stained and when we pulled out the bed for my son, the mattress cover was stained and gross. I had to go down and ask for sheets and a blanket as they were not provided but they were "out of pillows". The TV was very glitchy (not sure if it was the TV or the cable) so watching TV was annoying so we finally gave up. I went downstairs to check out the breakfast towards the beginning of service but only grabbed coffee as the area was overly crowded, filthy and the offerings were meager so we went elsewhere to eat. We stayed as it was only for one night and we were too exhausted to try to find a new hotel and I knew that there was no vacancy due to the tournament so did not ask for another room. There has to be another better pet-friendly hotel in the area,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe location of this hotel is amazing. Very close to food and everything I needed in Rock Hill. The service was just OK. Now let me get to my room. I was in room 217. We booked a room that had a pull out couch because we are a family of 7. We came for a family event, so when we checked in it was more of a drop and go. After returning from our event at 11pm we discovered the pull out couch was broken š” and not only that EXTREMELY DIRTY. I even seen a dead bug on the bed. Mind you this is where my kids were supposed to sleep. When I called to the front the man at the front seemed as if he had an attitude with me. Again, itās almost midnight at this point because my husband and I tried to fix this broken couch. Because the hotel was sold out we had no choice but to stay. They ended up bringing up a roll away bed. Which too was filthy! So we used their sheets to cover that mattress. When we travel by car, we bring our own blankets for this reason. Then at breakfast the people staying kept cross contaminating the utensils. NOT EVERYONE EATS PORK! So when you pick up omelets with the same utensils that you pick up bacon wit, THATāS CROSS CONTAMINATION. The staff didnāt seem to care. 2 men almost fought over this exact issue at breakfast. I also want to mention that the AC unit DOES NOT WORK IN ROOM 217! I repeat, THE AC DOES NOT WORK IN ROOM 217. You cannot control the settings on the unit and it turns and and only blows very cold air. One of my kids kept saying how cold they were. Mind you it was in the low 50s at night. I would not recommend this place to families! The breakfast was Sub-par, but they do offer some hot items. Again, this hotel would get a 1 star from me, however I did factor in location and the service was not the worst Iāve experienced. So a 2 star...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe hotel was being renovated when I was there so there was a little noise while checking out but that was fine with me. I didn't mind. The staff were great during both check in and check out and were very friendly. The bed was the most comfortable one I've slept on in a hotel and was pleased that there were more than enough pillows on the bed. The room was spacious and offered a great feeling of comfort while there.
I loved the fact that a hot breakfast was provided of waffles and eggs with ham. In addition, the traditional continental breakfast was provided for those who'd prefer a cold breakfast.
Another thing that I was impressed with was that the hotel had a map for their guests that showed where all of the nearby restaurants were as well as places to go shopping to make getting around in the area very easy. Certainly came in handy when choosing where to go eat dinner.
My only complaint would be the fact that the housekeeper woke me up four hours before check out wanting to clean the room. It was clear that she didn't have a list of rooms where the customers had already left and was simply going from room to room knocking on every single door at eight in the morning. I'd gone down for a concert and had gotten into bed after three so the wake up was not...
