Diamond Beach is a stunning coastal area located near Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon in southeast Iceland. It is renowned for its striking landscape where icebergs from the glacier lagoon wash ashore and scatter along the black sand beach, creating a visually mesmerizing scene.

Features and Contents: Icebergs: Large chunks of ice that have calved off the Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier drift from Jökulsárlón and wash up on the beach. These icebergs are often translucent and can be various sizes, sometimes towering over visitors.

Black Sand: The beach itself is composed of volcanic black sand, a result of Iceland’s volcanic activity, which provides a dramatic contrast to the clear blue or white ice.

Ice Fragments: Smaller pieces of ice scattered across the shoreline, glistening under sunlight.

Marine and Bird Life: The area is frequented by seabirds, and occasionally seals can be seen in the surrounding waters.

Why is it Famous? Unique Scenic Beauty: The juxtaposition of white and blue icebergs against the black volcanic sand creates an otherworldly landscape frequently featured in travel photography and videos.

Photographic Appeal: Its surreal appearance makes it a top destination for photographers, especially during sunrise and sunset when the lighting enhances the ice’s translucence.

Natural Phenomenon: The continual calving from the glacier, combined with the ocean currents, results in a dynamic and ever-changing landscape.

Accessibility: Located close to the Ring Road, making it accessible to travelers exploring Iceland’s south coast.

Additional Interesting Facts: The icebergs can take several years to form and can be as large as buildings. The beach is part of Vatnajökull National Park, one of Europe's largest national parks and home to multiple glaciers and volcanic landscapes. Ice pieces gradually melt and disappear back into the ocean, highlighting the ongoing effects of...

One of the most beautiful stretches of unpopulated Beach on the Oregon coast. The little town of Rockaway is home to many delightful little businesses. If you have a chance book yourself a trip on the turn of the century steam engine train that runs between Rockaway and Tillamook, it stops in Garibaldi and the scenery is spectacular. PS, don't forget to stop by The Old Oregon Smokehouse and pick yourself up some smoked salmon to snack on while you're walking...

Beautiful view of Twin rocks, not crowded. Beach was clean. First trip here. Didn't get any picks of the beach, but we enjoyed this spot. There is a beach entrance at 3rd and Pacific. It has stairs near the walk way, a portable potty, trash bags with a small trash can for picking up your pet's waste. There is also a small corner market a few blocks from this entrance. Great place for flying kites, when breezy. Also, this location is just outside of...

Really like this beach. It's chill, not overly crowded, and you can walk for a really long time. There's areas of the beach that get more natural the farther you go, and there's plenty of depth too so you can find anywhere to really be separated from other folks. While it doesn't have as many restaurants or places to stay as cannon or seaside, it's definitely a fun place to stay.
