Enter through the store "Wheeler Treasures." The International Police Museum is in the store itself.
The museum itself is rather small, but interesting. There is no admission fee, but bring a few dollars to donate (or donate online).
I took a lot of quick photos of the entire museum because I wanted to show my dad, a retired police officer. He might like the history of weapon evolution and what hats police in different countries wore.
I don't know if the lady behind the counter was the owner or not, but she was so friendly and kind; I'm used to apologizing for my 2 young sons, but she was so cool and helpful toward them. When they were taking their own fingerprints and studying them under a magnifying glass, she offered an extra magnifying glass so both kids could have one. Read moreWe found this place by accident when we traveled through town on a camping trip. We enjoyed walking the area and discovering the International Police Museum on our outing. There are several interesting exhibits on display. We enjoyed browsing and learning about some of the history behind various law enforcement methods, devices and implements. I don't remember seeing any interactive displays, but there were items from a broad period of time. Read moreThis is the second time I've visited the museum, it is quite fascinating especially some of the vintage oddities they have like the Oregon Boot (a bizarre variation on a ball and chain shackle which has an infamous history). They also have a wall mural by the police desk (this is also the Rockaway Beach Police Station) listing all of the victims of the 911 attacks on the WTC and Pentagon. We lost a friend on the plane that hit the Pentagon and it was poignant to see her name inscribed on this memorial. Definitely...
