I booked my reservation on December 3, 2018 for a wedding I would be attending in May, 2019. It was going to be a stressful weekend, as I had a wedding in Milwaukee on May 18th and another wedding in Chicago on May 19th. This reservation was for the Chicago Wedding, obviously.
I called ahead about a week before my reservation because I was worried about check in. You see, the Chicago bride had insisted that she would feel more comfortable if I stayed the night on May 18th in order that I would be with the rest of the bridesmaids fresh and early on May 19th, but I still needed to attend the Milwaukee wedding, so I called Hampton Inn to let them know that I would not check in till around midnight. They said they made a note on my reservation and that this would be fine.
The night of, I am exhausted having spent 8am to 10pm with the Milwaukee bride as personal attendant. I arrive at the Hampton Inn at midnight and I am checked in. I grab my key. Go up the elevator. Enter the room---and there is already a half naked family in there, who immediately start screaming at me for walking into their room. I run downstairs. It seems the family already called the front desk and is yelling at the front desk man.
The front desk man eventually gets to me, but apparently, Hampton Inn does all their software update around this time, so he can't find my reservation and is unable to look up vacant rooms. He has to print a "master list" of rooms and have security go knock door to door on potentially vacant rooms to double check that they are indeed vacant and are available to me. I don't get to bed until about 1:30 a.m. This whole ordeal took an hour and 30 minutes.
The next morning, they don't really have any answers for me. They apologize and comp my first night, as well they should. The room they eventually gave me was spacious and lovely. I am a fan of really nice bathrooms, and the bathroom I had was really, really nice.
Well, it is nine months later, and I still remember it all as vividly disappointing. I would have rated this a 1 star review, but the front desk man that night was genuinely mortified, horrified, and seemed to be trying his best and I really did like the bathroom. I hope you take this review seriously. I expect better for almost $200/night and I hope Hampton Inn...
Read moreWas able to book a last minute (same day) one night King room here at a good price through Expedia and it was perfect for what I needed:
Both check in and check out was seamless - I always get nervous with online same day bookings because I’ve had bad experiences with reservations not actually being made in the past. But thankfully it was easy and I appreciated them letting me do a late checkout as well. Room itself was very clean and very comforting: was a fan of the comfy chaise with tray table as well as the night stands/lighting. Bed, sheets and pillows were so nice and gave me much needed rest/sleep. Bathroom was super nice and clean, shower pressure was perfect and loved the Neutrogena toiletries that they provide. They also provide enough clean towels. Was very pleased with the breakfast: they provided disposable bowls/plates and to go containers so it was easy to bring it all back up to the room. The waffle batter came in cinnamon & vanilla and was to die for. Valet was really easy: they give you a number to text when you’re ready for your car and I didn’t even have to wait.
My only nitpicks for improvement (not a big deal at all): including any type of sanitation wipes, room microwave, room bottled water, clock somewhere would have been nice. Cable was ok but would’ve been nice to have service with a channel guide. No opportunity for streaming services on the tv so I ended up watching Netflix on my phone anyway.
I don’t live too far away from this hotel so I know the location itself is great, though I didn’t have time to take advantage of it: within walking distance is a ton a of places to eat, a Target, a pharmacy and some college bars. Raising Cane’s is also right around the corner, my only regret was falling asleep before grabbing some for dinner. Additionally, GoPuff delivers here so I was able to get some snacks delivered without leaving the hotel.
Thank you Hampton Inn for a relaxing one night stay, it was again much needed and I felt relaxed/refreshed and satisfied leaving the next day wishing I could’ve...
Read moreDefinitely was not happy with my stay at this location. I stay very often at other Hampton Inn locations nationwide for work related travels. This is the only location that needed Credit Card authorization form to be filled out to use the Corporate card on file. My company reserves all my stays and I never had to get this for any other locations except this one. This requirement was never told to my company during reservation therefore the form was not done and I ended up paying for room and parking myself. This is more of a hassle for me to process for reimbursement. Now with parking. I understand there is no self parking or street parking, only VALET as an option. The charge for Valet per night is too expensive for members that stays frequently with Hampton. Anyways, When I first arrived, late night after Chicago traffic and long airport stress at O'hare, I parked the car myself at the Valet parking lot then walked to the hotel myself with suitcase. I checked-in and was told that I had to walk back outside to talk with Valet Attendant. I told the attendant that I had already parked the vehicle in their lot for them... here are the keys, please mark it as valeted or whatever that is needed to be done. Attendant tells me no, they cannot. I had to go and pull the car up to them so they can basically repark it at the same lot. Now I had to walk back in the cold to the car that the attendant would have to just park it back there again! This was outrageous. How did this make sense? My blood is boiling right now reliving this experience. The attendant really could have taken the keys, beep beep the car, valet ticket it in the lot without me driving back for them to do exactly what I did. Day 3--Shampoo and Conditioner.... I had to call for it, they could not send it to my room (last room on fifth floor that is extremely far from elevator!) so I had to go back down to get it after a long day at work. JUST A LOT OF INCONVIENCE WITH THIS...
