This was easily the best shop of the several I tried - I DO NOT recommend Tesori or the White Dress Boutique, btw. I did get very lucky in finding a dress that I loved on their sample sale, but the highlights that every customer would share are:
They treated the appointment like an appointment - they were ready for us, sat down to talk through what I wanted, spent time talking me through each dress and options, etc. They LISTENED to the things that were a no-go for me, rather than trying to argue me into some other dress. They had a great selection of different dresses, not just variations on one style. They had dresses at several different price points, which was important to me. I like nice things, but I think the wedding dress industry has gotten out of control. I ended up with a gorgeous dress at a price that didn't make me sick. Also, accessories weren't crazy overpriced (at least the ones I looked at) - the straps I added to my dress were actually super reasonable for the amount of beading they had them. The stylist with whom I had my first appointment -Jeri - was also present for each of my fittings and follow-ups, which made me feel more certain that everyone was on the same page (for small things like replacement buttons, the straps I was having added, etc.) The alterations work was impeccable and reasonably priced. I think I paid the same amount for my wedding dress alterations ON A SAMPLE (so more extensive reconstruction) that my mom was quoted for her MOB dress at David's Bridal (obviously we went elsewhere because WUT.) The alterations ladies did a great job of negotiating my wants with my comfort - I like things very fitted, and they managed to balance that with making sure I could sit, dance, eat, etc. They did have to re-sew the bustle, and I wish I had tested that more at pick up so I understood how to do the new version better, but that's my fault for being in a rush when I picked the dress up. (We ended up with some really pretty video at the end of the night when I gave up and let my train down on the emptying dance floor, where the dress is very swoosh-y and lovely. Props to my husband for figuring out how to twirl me without stepping on the train.)
I do have one very small note about those alterations: if you buy the dress and do alterations here, you need to pay cash or have a cheque. When I was surprised by this at pick up, the person working said they tell everyone twice. Partly, I believe her because they must do this a lot and I'm sure they have a routine/checklist. But it wasn't in any of my extensive notes and none of the people who went with me remember hearing it - however, it's an exciting and really busy time. Still - seeing it one more place can't hurt: CASH or CHEQUE for...
Read moreWhen we first showed up to this place, already I knew it was the place! From the grand chandeliers to the pink couches, this place had just all the small details you could look for in a dress shop! We didn’t not have to wait and were immediately greeted by someone! We had a tour of this place and like I said just stunning! And were greeted by Myka! She immidiately listened to everything I had to say and got me what I WANTED. This was so important to me since I had been to other shops that day and just felt like everyone kept telling me what I wanted to hear. She made me feel comfortable and like a princess all at the same time! This place was also very affordable and not just trying to get me to buy all the million dollar dresses. She also made sure everyone with me was comfortable and heard as well! They actually had a pedestal and private rooms unlike a lot of their other place and didn’t make me show or try on anything I didn’t want to! Once I thought I found the dress she made sure I was a hundred percent sure too which is SO IMPORTANT, making sure I’m not just trying on every veil with every dress, making sure I was certain on the dress and showing me if there were any imperfections and me viewing it as well! She doesn’t try to push anything on you and make sure you get what you want and are treated as so. I would suggest this place to anyone and everyone I know to all the future brides out there! I didn’t have one bad experience or feeling at all the time! I’m so glad I said yes to the dress at this...
Read more100000/10! This was my first dress shopping experience and I’ll truly never forget it. I was paired with Alec as my consultant. Before my appointment, Alec reached out to me via text to gather some wedding details and style preferences. I could tell in the way he was texting that he was incredible.. and honestly, incredible falls short to describe him! He was an absolute dream to work with. He listened to me and helped me pull dresses that correlated with my style, as well as some random wild cards. He made me feel beautiful in every dress I tried on! He instilled confidence in me that I didn’t know I had. I only tried on 6 dresses before I found the one that stopped me in my tracks and surprised both of us! He pumped me up to show my entourage and that’s when I knew. It was past closing time and I was on the verge of saying yes when he asked what song I planned on walking down the aisle to. He went and turned it on. As my song played over the speakers of the entire store, I walked around soaking it in. This is the moment I had been waiting for. There wasn’t a dry eye in the place, Alec included. I wish I could relive that day over and over again.. and I’m sure I’ll say the same about our wedding! Thank you so much, Alec, and the rest of the SSY team! 🤍...
