Sweet Retreat — Attraction in Ruidoso

HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!! WARNING: Be prepared for rude, unpleasant, unacceptable customer service! The first time I went there, the girl behind the counter was rude and seemed annoyed from the second we walked in. I assumed she was having a bad day and let it go. A couple months later, we were back in town and she was even worse this time!! She acted annoyed as I ordered as if I was inconveniencing her and then became angry when I asked for a receipt or some form of a receipt needed due to it being a school purchase. I had to cancel my order since she couldn’t provide any kind of receipt. Even though I was calm and spoke respectfully to her, she became belligerent and then told me to leave the store and refused to give me her name. I was in shock. I will never go back. We visit Ruidoso several times a year and I always go to Sweet Retreat to get my favorite peanut butter/chocolate fudge. Yesterday I bought some and it was the WORST fudge I ever had! It was not thoroughly mixed so the peanut butter was either non-existent or very strong and the last bite tasted like hairspray! I threw most of it away. I was disgusted to see the candy makers not wearing hair nets while making turtle candies and unwrapping Rice Crispy treats (not made from scratch????) from a grocery store to cover in chocolate. My last concern was the lack of glass lids on half of the candy jars; what random things could go inside the jars and mix with the candies and chocolate? Don’t get me started on Sweet Retreat, My family and I go here every time we visit this town and love to experience the tasty treats provided. BUT every time we go there, there is rude costumer service and simply just lazy employees working there. Today they seemed annoyed at us when we were taking our time to pick out our candy. Also, this time around my friend and I both got gummy treats and they were very stale and very hard to chew. Seemed as if they were left out all night. Even though we go here every year and enjoy the treats, we experience rude costumer service....
