First of all, guys, I'm sorry it took me this long to rave about you. This place is such a gem! Insturnments and music books are available for purchase, and they offer lessons. 30 dollars for a half hour lesson in Bergen County is more than fair. I take piano- Ernie is an excellent teacher who I sense knows how to meet all of his students on their individual levels and guide them the way they need to be guided. Lessons are also available for guitar and a variety of other instruments.
I meet and talk to a LOT of people who have been considering music lessons. Some people (myself included) had some music education earlier in life but didn't stick with it for whatever reason. Others impulse bought instruments during 2020 and tried to teach themselves but didn't stick with it. I get it, life is hard and mustering the discipline to practice can be even harder, especially at the beginning when the learning curve can be brutal. If anyone is reading this, thinking about whether or not to take the plunge? DO. IT. There's something to be said for learning a skill for the sake of learning it. Music lessons add structure and keep you honest. A side benefit is that when you learn how to play music, it changes the way you listen to music. It's like having a superpower. Do YOU want to have a superpower? Do it. Take the plunge....
Read moreJust happen across this "review" and felt it necessary to retort. Obviously the above comment was written by either a complete idiot, or a competitor. For starters, if you were that unhappy with something you bought there why not return it? Secondly, having dealt with the staff there for well over 20 years, they are absolute professionals. I trust no one else with my repairs and sales. Period. No place stays in business over 20 years by screwing people. Also, if you know anything about guitars, even the most novice of the players would know that if a guitar has a broken truss rod, Pat Metheny wouldn't even be able to play it, let alone a beginner. I know if I saw a "piece of metal" sliding in and out of a guitar, I'd pass on buying it in the first place. So before you decide to slam a reputable store, try to get at least ONE of your facts straight to make you sound somewhat believable. That said, you will have no worries dealing with Tony or anyone at Rutherford Music. All a bunch of stand-up...

I was so happy with the quality of work I convinced my father to let me drop off his guitar, along with a guitar that is a gift for a friend.
Within 24 hours I got a call that the guitars were ready to be picked up. They both felt like butter and played very comfortably. The team at Rutherford Music Exchange are knowledgeable and very friendly. I got some great advice on my effects pedal set up and I walked away a very...
