In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little, yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face is that, in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations. The new needs friends. Last night, I experienced something new, an extraordinary meal from a singularly unexpected source. To say that both the meal and its maker have challenged my preconceptions about fine cooking is a gross understatement. They have rocked me to my core. In the past, I have made no secret of my disdain for Chef Minas famous motto: "Anyone can cook." But I realize, only now do I truly understand what she meant. Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere. It is difficult to imagine more humble origins than those of the genius now cooking at Minas, who is, in this critic's opinion, nothing less than the finest chef in Sacramento to Fresno. I will be returning to Fogo De Minas soon, hungry for more!

Glad that there's finally a Brazilian Steakhouse nearby. Made a reservation for 2 at 6:30pm. Service was attentive and on point. The meats were freshly cooked and served in big portions. They were good, specially the beef sirloin and pork parmesan. The salad and cheese bar were ok. The Caipirinha (Brazilian mojito) is ok. Ordered the Flan but they ran out. Not my favorite Brazilian Steakhouse but good enough for me since we don't have to drive very far to enjoy delicious steaks. Update: Dined with the whole family last night and what a dinner! Made a reservation for 7pm, got there on time whole place was packed... but our table was ready. The meats started coming and they were all perfect. My family was so impressed by the portion of meat cuts that we were served, having been to Fogo de Chao and Espetus Churrascaria where you almost had to beg for thicker cuts. The cocktails were still just ok, grandson loved the triple chocolate cake and daughter said the cheesecake was delicious. Amy took care of our party of 7 and was definitely the best host ever... the gauchos were attentive and were very generous... it is now my favorite Brazilian Steakhouse.

I love trying new places, I’ve lived in multiple cities over the past 2 years. My husband love Fogo de Chao and when we moved to Sac, we were disappointed that they didn’t have the restaurant here but we found this place instead. It’s okay to be similar to another restaurant but keep the experience better at least. Their staff is really friendly but they get two stars for the food and the price. It’s honestly not worth it for the $57 per person and the total was $130 for two people and we didn’t even get drinks. Everything looked cheap, the chair, the table, the whole ambience for that expensive price. Fogo de Chao is not even that expensive, it’s like $45. They don’t have much variety in the salad bar and the food seemed stale like it’s been sitting there for a hot minute. The meats…were rare, no offense to the chef but maybe put a thermometer in the meat before brining it out to the customer. We requested for medium rare and the meat that was brought out was very rare, i could small the rare meat, when I’m not even a carnivore. No, I’m Not coming back here, i would have to drive to San Fran for the real Fogo experience.

Went here a few time for birthdays one of those times being my own and it's always a great experience. The staff are super friendly, the food is delicious, and it the service is excellent.

First of all, Everytime I've been here. All the staff that have served me were all Brazilian. Our main server as well as the people serving the meats. Personally, this adds a level of authenticity above all the other Brazilian steak houses I've been to

Second, they are friendly and professional in that they keep an eye to attention to detail on how they serve. Such as where they serve the meat in that they do their best not to serve across the table potentially dripping meat sauce over your other dishes or drinks. They will come in between seats or serve from the ends of the table. They also cut small slices and will get bigger or multiple slices if requested. They allows not only less wasted food for them but fresh cuts for me as the meat doesn't cool down and get dry because I can't eat it as fast. It also helps that this is the smallest Brazilian steakhouse I've been to so my guess is that the meat doesn't travel too far before getting to the people which means more people get their meats faster and less time for the meat to air dry while servers walk around.

Lastly the food is just a level above the other nearby Brazilian steak houses. By food I mean the meats of course. I think the salad bar is good but not amazing. I didn't come to a steakhouse for their salad bar. Their appetizers are for the most part on par with the other places. Good but mostly bread and sweets like glazed bananas. The meats is what I come for. The meats are consistently cooked to perfection. For me this means crispy on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside. Their garlic steak, picanha, pork ribs, lamb, and even their chicken thighs are all great. Their glazed pineapple is also the best I've had. I think it's because they add more glaze then other places. And when they cut off an entire layer I've seen them glaze it again and re-roast it. I've even asked them to do it for me once before taking the last slices.

Overall I come here for the people, the service, and the food. I'll be coming here for years to come so long as the people, the service, and food stay...

The food and service were excellent. Great variety of meats including top sirloin, ribeye, bottom sirloin, picanha, lamb, chicken and shrimp, and a huge variety on the salad bar. Very cordial service from the wait staff especially considering the size of my group (12+). I've been there a few times and it's always been great. I would definitely recommend it and plan on going back.

I do want to point out that they charge a "non-cash adjustment" of approx. 4% on the bill unless you pay in cash. I understand that the restaurant has to pay for payment processing, however, 99% of businesses absorb that as a cost of doing business instead of passing it on to the customer. Never seen it at a more "pricy" restaurant. Also, 4% almost certainly exceeds what they actually pay for payment processing. I would also suggest including that you charge that on the menus and maybe even on a sign at the front of the restaurant. It is technically illegal in California to neglect to or inadequately publish this information in a conspicuous location in the restaurant. Last time I went I was able to avoid that charge paying with Google Pay, but this time it didn't work.

In addition, they did not provide the option of "free" tap water, and instead charged us all for bottled Evian and S. Pellegrino sparkling water. Again, 99% of restaurants would first offer "free" tap water instead of pushing buying bottled water and I would certainly expect a place of this caliber to do that as well. Felt like I was back in Brazil.

Lastly, it is not clear at all from looking at the online menus that the "plates" where you get rice, beans, potato salad, salad and a choice of meat, and the sandwiches, are only available at lunch. Some people in the group wanted those options after looking at the menu online and they were not available for dinner. The staff said they were available for takeout though, so why not just make them available, period? $62.95 (the regular dinner price for the rotating meats "rodízio" and full salad bar) is maybe a little more than people would want to spend if they weren't aware that the combo plates and sandwiches are only available at lunch. Not necessarily false advertising, but...

Came for date night and this place is pretty fire 🔥 the meats were all excellent, I can understand some of the reviews saying the food was too salty, but that may be true only for low sodium diets. I think the meat was seasoned well (near the borderline of over seasoned, but not quite there). The customer service was amazing; even after a faux pas or two on our end, the staff remained patient, kind and helpful. There are only a couple reasons I can’t give it 5 ⭐️, one reason being THE HEAT. I understand it’s a grilling establishment and the heat from the grills will always raise temps, but I think this business has been around long enough to know to adjust the temp accordingly, especially on 100+ degree days. Temp was fine upon arrival around 6, but about 45min - 1 hr into our dinner, we were sweating profusely, which is mostly why we left rather than from being full from the all you can eat. Another issue is the “non-cash payment fee”. I read about this in previous reviews so made sure to ask for a receipt and yup, they definitely overcharge you if you’re not using cash (which is not common post-COVID). This was a bit troubling as the prices are on the high-end already, so nickel-and-diming customers to cover their own card payment fees doesn’t sit well. Ended up lowering my tip accordingly to account for the fee, so management should heed the multiple reviews saying the overcharge shouldn’t exist, as you’re ultimately hurting your own hardworking employees. The cocktails are also delicious but questionable as to whether they actually had alcohol in them or not, and they will melt extremely fast due to temps. All in all, it was a good experience but I probably wouldn’t come back for dinner time as we never saw the “16 meat options” that they claimed to have, we only saw the same ~8 dishes come out multiple times, so lunch time might be better priced for what you...
