Hidden in a residential neighborhood is this magical wonderland of a place! Everything is made from discarded and recycled materials, if you have the time, it’s just a quick stop, 10 minutes out of your day to stroll through this fairytale that’s brings out your inner child, then you definitely should! You have to park on the street which is fine, if you go on a weekday there isn’t many people at all. Took my 3 year old twins here and they were just as amazed as I was. And if you like this place, I’d definitely check out Folly Farms which is right down the street and has a very similar vibe to it but more indulged in nature! It’s free but they encourage donations, I took a print and a stone from the little shop they have, they also have handmade items and Knick knacks that are also made from recycled materials that you can buy, there’s nobody there so it’s an honor system, they trust people to Venmo or pay with cash into the donation box. It’s really cool! You could definitely get lost in here, there’s so much to look at when you turn every corner there is more and more, I love the artwork that they’ve made out of essentially trash and turned it into beauty for others to enjoy. Highly recommend...
Read moreDuring a recent family vacation to Florida, I was surprised by my boys with a trip to Whimzeyland. My oldest son was aware that I follow their social media pages. Equally aware of my desire to hopefully see it one day. My boys set up the tour with Laurel and she was ready and waiting for us. (Driving up to the house, my mind was instantly blown. There is so much to see, take in, talk about…) Laurel greeted all of us warmly and did a fantastic job of walking us through, carefully explaining the history of the house and provided background on the artists responsible for the magic that is Whimzeyland. I had the honor and rare privilege of touring the interior of the house across the street. What an experience! I met both Todd & Kiaralinda personally and spoke with them about art, inspiration & collecting random things. Overall, spending an afternoon at this fantastic place remains the highlight of my trip. Whether you are a creative personality or appreciate art from a distance, WL is a must see. Make sure to stroll through the Art & Music Center & visit the local artisan gift shop. Thank you Laurel, Todd and Kiaralinda for my...
Read moreThis is a tiny little spot, a regular house in a small neighborhood but it has been transformed by the artist who live here into a little spot of wonder.
You park on the street and just walk right in. No fees, etc. There are small gazebos and walking paths. Everything is decorated, painted, covered in beads or tiles. I will say it borders on the edge of a hoarder's property and if that is a turn off, this might not be for you.
If you like to be overwhelmed by colors and sparkling things in the midst of tropical foliage, you can overlook the cramped conditions and the unavoidable hint of mold here in there that we have in Florida outdoors.
A very fun spot for anyone who likes to take photos. I think kids would love the stimulating atmosphere. I saw no bathrooms or such, not really a spot to picnic. Just somewhere for maybe a 15-to-20-minute walk around to be amazed by the unique mixing of materials, some very common some not, that create this little fantasy land. There is also a VW by the street with old computer parts attached to it. Certainly, an off the beaten path...
