Evident attention to detail, you get the feeling that everything has been calculated here by a masterful supervillain… who will destroy the world WITH PIZZA … Inevitable.

First off, the dough on the Detroit style was airy, crunchy, and delightful, not overly greasy like most. Salty and addictively oily cheese topped generously with a natural sauce made of quality crushed tomatoes. The only critique I can offer here is adding some more herbs to the tomatoes, I prefer a strongly flavored sauce.

Moving on to the slices, I’m greatly looking forward to trying a whole NY style pie. As expected, reheated slices dry out a little, but have the added benefit of becoming more crisp. The cheese once again shows through, agreeably oily, lightly sprinkled with parmesan. The crust was a little chewy (likely a result of being reheated) but also quite crunchy and a bit flaky. Here’s where that attention to detail comes in, as I looked around I noticed the fresh pies around me were actually browned slightly more than my slices. This means they intentionally undercook the slices knowing they’ll be reheating them, further cooking them. Well played Nona slice… well played. On the flavored slice, the combination of pistachio, ricotta, and hot honey melded splendidly. The hot honey hits hard, quite a statement ingredient. Once again if I had to offer a suggestion, I’d say a bit more sauce, especially being a reheat.

So, you pair all that quality with affordable daily deals, a plethora of creative flavors for variety, objectively tasteful and mellow live music, kind and knowledgeable wait staff (shout out to Morgan & front of house), AND a military discount I didn’t even have to ask for… the gauntlet has been thrown for potentially the best pizza in the Tampa-St. Petersburg...

Bottom Line: we brought a group of friends to Nonas over a weekend and were very embarrassed by the service.

We have been to Nona’s a handful of times in the last 2 years. Last time there we invited friends, because we wanted show them a really good pizza place. There was nine of us sitting outside on the picnic table along the sidewalk. After being seated for 15 minutes, i went to the hostess and asked if we could get a server. 15 minutes later the same waitress waiting on the table next to us took our drink, appetizer and pizza order. We ordered 3 alcoholic beverages and the rest was water and soda. About 10 minutes later a bartender brought out one drink. One person in our party went inside to get a glass of tea and water because she was thirsty. 15 minutes later the appetizers came out. Ten minutes later the waitress brought out some of our waters, sodas and the other two drinks, by this time the appetizers had almost been eaten. So after being seated for about an hour we had our drinks, sodas, some water and appetizers. The pizzas came out about 5 minutes later. We wanted to order more drinks, but the waitress did not check on us for another 20 minutes. We tried to get more waters and sodas but they never came. 15-20 minutes later the waitress came back with our checks, which were wrong. 10 minutes later when she came back with the corrected checks, stating this only my third shift. Unfortunately the table next to us had the same waitress and were there before us and still there when we left, they were trying to straighten out their bill. I was very embarrassed as we had talked very highly of the establishment with our friends and literally had the worst experience. My husband loved this place. So...

The place is mobbed every night especially now that it’s season. I have to get a shout out to Devin, our Server she was patient & attentive and on the ball. Erica was bussing tables- she didn’t stop moving all night. Why doesn’t the owner have at least three Erica’s?! paying them all a nice salary to keep on top of clearing and turning those tables and whatever else the servers or bartenders need? I saw some tables sit with plates and cups for a long time. The hostess, a lot of pressure she was great. I think her name was Kaitlyn.? She was gracious and friendly. There was a manager I did not get her name dark hair a very nice helped our server, dropped our food and got us a couple things we needed. When you have a busy business like this have a long wait list every night (we waited at least 1 1/2 ) you better have supporting staff to keep up. I did also notice a lot of tables sat empty for a long time. If the reservations are not there within a certain amount of time you should seat those tables. The margarita pizza was excellent, so was the classic New York pepperoni. I wish they would mix the salads or serve them in a larger type of salad bowl so while mixing the dressing everything doesn’t fall out of the bowl. I will never again get the chicken wings. The jerk seasoning was terrible & no matter how crispy you ask for them you will never get them crispy. Period. You come here for family, fun and pizza. You have goldmine higher a couple girls like Erica who have a good work ethic & pay them a good wage to look out for your business. Also, maybe some kind of waiting area with more seating, and an awning to protect you...

Updated 5/30/25: Ordered a Margherita and Detroit style. Detroit was a 8.5/10. I’d suggest ordering extra sauce on the side to dip. Otherwise very very very good. Margherita was a 7.4/10. Good pie, but not my favorite. Will definitely be coming back again sometime soon. Overall, if you order whole pies here, you will be very happy with your decision. If you order slices, you will be disappointed. Good service, on time order, fair price for quality. Happy customer. Glad I gave it another shot. Alrighty, unfortunate review here. Let me just say right away, I will be giving them another shot. I’m going to order a whole pie next time, instead of the slices. It seems the increase in foot traffic and popularity may have overwhelmed this place a bit. I ordered 2 pepperoni slices. Both came out extra greasy but still somehow dried out? Gave it a napkin job and took the picture after for clarification. The cheese had no “pull” to it. The sauce had either completely dried out or was non existent. The crisp crunch was certainly there! But less enjoyable and more stale crunch if that makes sense! If this was the standard, I wouldn’t go again in a million years. But I’ve seen other reviews and obviously Dave’s review had delicious looking pizza. I’m going to give it another shot and order a whole pie. I wouldn’t recommend getting slices here, and I will be updating my star rating after my second try. But right now it’s a 3/5 as the pizza scored a 5.8/10. Service was good. Atmosphere is truly unique!

I was in town visiting Tampa and searched up "Pizza" only to stumble upon this gem. The Nona Slice House is a pizzeria in Safety Harbor serving the most delicious and unique Italian dishes. They serve different pizzas, sandwiches, salads, and desserts. My party ordered the Garlic knots, Rocket Man salad, Garden Pesto Pizza, and Hot Honey Melt. Every single menu item was amazing. The pizza was thin and crispy topped with fresh pesto and veggies. Garlic knots were smothered with butter and garlic. Salad had the perfect mix of salty and sweet from the cheese and strawberries. The star of the show had to be the Hot Honey Melt. The sandwich came is 4 huge slices filled with 4 different cheeses and a hint of honey which made each bite taste even better. It also came with a creamy tomato soup on the side so you can dip and eat at the same time. I would come back just for the melt. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They were able to give great recommendations and were pretty efficient in placing and serving our order. There is limited parking in a lot next to the restaurant, otherwise you have to find parking on your own. The only downside is that there is no indoor seating so you have to bear with the heat and occasional bug that swarms around the table. They do have fans that are plugged in outside though. Overall, this was a great spot that I will definitely visit again!
