Safety Harbor Motel — Hotel in Safety Harbor

We traveled to Florida to attend the funeral of my sister-in-law; we were looking for a place close by. It has been many years since I stayed at the motel - the last time was many years before the new owners took over. What a difference!! They have done a marvelous job at renovating / updating the rooms. Danielle and the staff were very accommodating to our changing needs over the five days we stayed. They were available 24/7 to respond to our requests. We first stayed in the Tranquil Hideaway suite as that was the only 2-bedroom available at the time. They moved us into the Beachy Bungalow (it has a larger bed in the 2nd bedroom) when we decided to stay longer - we didn't even have to "go away" during the check-out to check-in time window. Both suites were comfortable, with fully equipped kitchens, comfortable beds, nice shared spaces, and lovely decorating (which does not look like generic hotel deco). Smart TVs were in the shared space as well as each bedroom; Cable TV with a good selection of channels and free WiFi was provided. All the units are first floor, so it was easy for our older relatives to access. Being in Safety Harbor, it is QUIET, yet you only have to walk two blocks to get to main street, which has many restaurants, dessert shops, coffee shops, and even a "classic" style diner. We would stay any time we visit the Clearwater area again and fully recommend...

Safety Harbor Motel was a great place to stay! Doug and Michele were wonderful hosts and very accommodating. I was there for 12 nights, my son was there for 4 nights and our friends, an extended family from New Zealand, were there for 11 nights. Doug and Michele worked with me to make sure everyone had suitable rooms for our stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The efficiencies have a bed, two burner stove, mini-fridge, coffee maker, microwave and assorted dishes. The one bedroom apartment has 2 beds, a roomy kitchen-living room, bathroom with tub/shower combo. The kitchen has a full sized fridge and stove, double sink, coffee maker, microwave and assorted dishes. There was a very pleasant 2 bedroom apartment, which was very roomy and had full sized stove and fridge, as well as the microwave and coffee maker.

Doug and Michele also made arrangements for our New Zealand friends to be driven to Orlando at the end of their stay. I do not know of any other motel that would do that!!

This is an excellent place to stay! Adorable retro vibe with everything being brand spankin' new.

Ben and Danielle, the new owners, have obviously taken great pride in making sure their guests have an exceptional experience. Our room (105) had a very comfortable king-sized bed, super-cold air conditioning, and an efficiency kitchen that was beyond adequate for storing and reheating our leftovers from the delicious restaurants (all no more than a 10-15 minute walk). Most importantly, the place is exceptionally clean and comfortable!

While Safety Harbor is a GREAT city to explore, do not hesitate to book a room at the Safety Harbor Motel if you are considering visiting the Clearwater area in general. Even If you find yourself here without a car, the several gorgeous Gulf beaches are only a short (~20 minute) Uber ride way. We headed over to the Dunedin Causeway to paddle board and our ride was under $20.
