My name is Jenifer Whitehead and I am an RN and a Celiac. I DONT purchase ANYTHING without reading ingredients. ANY grain product or byproduct makes me extremely ill, sometimes resulting in trips to the ER. I went into this quaint little store the Saturday after Black Friday. I noticed there wasnt any ingredients listed for any of the products. When I asked the lady at the counter, she was NOT overly friendly in explaining the ingredients or process of the oil and vinegars. Shortly later the owner approached me and quite rudely proceeded to talk to me like I was a complete idiot. LOUDLY. In front of ALL the rest of the customers. Later he did the same thing to an employee and basically was belittling him. I was not only appauled at his behavior but very embarrassed for him. Shame on him. The customers are his livelyhood... The products there were amazing and I WOULD have spent a fortune in there AND been a repeat customer, as it is RARE that I find so many delicious items I can have. BUT. ..I chose to only purchase 2 items, because of the way I was treated. My 2 items totalled $40 and change. I attempted to give the same woman at the counter a $100 bill. She did NOT want to make change for me. My boyfriend and I could not believe this. I had to use my card .... I cant believe this place is still open. It is NOT friendly to Celiacs and those who are gluten free. I DO NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE just purely because of the way I was treated. AGAIN....Shame on you Jenifer Whitehead, a "1"time customer with many friends and several of those with...
Read moreI just wanted to share our experience we had on Saturday 11/25/22. We were experiencing the historical st Charles downtown with our 2 girls (4 & 1yo) when we walked into the store excited to buy balsamic vinegars we absolutely love and have bought multiple times from this exact store. We had just barely got in the door when our 4yo stated venturing up the stairs (which was allowed in other shops) and both my husband and I started calling her name and correcting her. When a sales lady started berating her (so loud and rude that every head in the very crowded shop turned to look), saying "NO, you cannot go up those stairs, this is not your house these are not your stairs". We immediately turned and walked out and they lost our business. While I normally do not mind when people correct my children because it takes a village. This lady took it way over the top when we were already trying to parent and correct her in a kind way. If you want business you need to treat all humans no matter their size...
Read moreWe visited this location for the first time yesterday. We would usually go to the location in West County Mall except it closed. It was not extremely busy considering they had a Christmas festival going on. I new exactly what I needed and a lady quickly took my requests. My family and I stood to the side waiting for our oils. My 6 year old son was looking at a display of saucers and the owner rudely told him , “Son, those things on that shelf are very expensive.” He was looking! Then as I checked out he kept watching my son. I was waiting for them to bag my order and turned to see him watching me suspiciously. I will never return to this store. I left feeling uncomfortable and upset after I spent money to...
