Brunch at the Main House in St. Charles 🍳💛#stcharles #brunch #fyp

The chef, Chip, is an incredibly gifted master of cuisine. I had the skirt steak with fries and my husband had the oven roasted pork chop with mashed potatoes and oven roasted Brussel sprouts. The skirt steak was cooked to perfection! It was tender and juicy which is a difficult thing to do with this particular cut of beef but Chip nailed it. It was drizzled with an herb and vinegar kind of chimichurri and drizzled with an olive oil that you could just taste the quality in. And the French fries, I don't know what they do to their french fries but they're better than any french fry I've had.. EVER! Our server, Sergei, was knowledgeable and friendly and very accommodating. He explained to us that the special of the day was the chef's take on shrimp and grits. They were outstanding. The shrimp were not overcooked and seasoned to enhance their flavor. I don't know what was in that sauce but it was like heaven on earth. And the grits, omg! My husband's oven roasted pork chop came with a sauce that had an acidity to it that complemented the pork and really brought out the flavor. The pork was the most tender and juicy pork chop we've ever eaten. Yes, I ate some of his pork chop! And the brussel sprouts.. well even if you don't like brussel sprouts you'll like these. I only wish I had had room for dessert. Not only would I highly recommend The Main House for its excellent menu but the atmosphere as well. Honorable mention goes to the bartender whose name I did not get for making a most delicious cosmopolitan, so good in fact I had two! Thank you, Chip and Sergei, for making our date night tastes so good! The food tasted so good I was only able to capture one picture of the half-eatened shrimp and grits. We have been back three times since this review and every time chef Chip never disappoints. Our server this time was Addison. She's friendly, knowledgeable, and very eager to serve and please her customers. I had the beef medallions with broccoli and his delicious mashed potatoes. My husband had the pork again because it's just the bomb! And if you can manage to save room for dessert the coconut cream pie is the best coconut cream pie ever. I always end up taking some home because I can never finish it.

PHENOMENAL! My wife and I had a much needed date night and chose The Main House. Started off with a lovely FOH greeting and then entered the dining space to find lower lighting for a lovely intimate setting. We were extremely fortunate to have Natalia as our waitress for the evening. She did a fantastic job from start to finish! Always making sure we had what we needed, refills, seeing if there’s anything we needed in between drinks and waiting for food. She made excellent recommendations based off of the questions that we asked her! My wife And I started with shrimp cocktail, which Was six jumbo size shrimp. My wife ordered the fried chicken sandwich and I ordered the Cajun penne. We ended the evening with dessert, which was a gooey butter cookie with a heaping scoop of ice cream. All of it ABSOLUTELY delicious ! I can’t recall, and forgive me for forgetting, but either the manager or owner came up at the end to ask us how everything was and if any improvements were recommended, which doesn’t happen much anymore! What an outstanding experience! We HIGHLY recommend and look forward to coming back!

The pan roasted chicken was amazing! Very tender. Almost tasted like they used a sous vide to cook it first. The seasoning and spices were on point too. Service was pretty good as well and great ambiance inside. The only reason why this isn't 5/5 stars is due to a couple small things that could be improved upon. One of our plates came out with giant wipe marks on it where you could tell they tried to wipe whatever spilled on the rim except they didn't do a thorough job of wiping so it left these little rings which was kind of gross honestly. Server didn't tell us her name (though it was very busy.) Minor details like that separate this place from being 4 to 5 stars IMHO. The other thing that kind of grossed me out was how much butter they put on literally everything. More butter doesn't automatically = better food. I'm lucky I remembered to bring my digestive enzymes with me or I would have definitely had an IBS attack. When I got home, my stomach was very upset though and it was a rough evening, I'll just leave it at that. The macaroni and cheese (which I was extremely excited to try) was the worst offender. I decided to get a half portion only which isn't on the menu but they can certainly do that for you if you ask. It was still way too much food so I decided to bring half home. The next day I went to heat some up for lunch and well... It was literally just some noodles floating in a puddle of butter. I uploaded a photo so it's clear what I mean. Hardly any cheese, mostly butter. I think if they reduced the butter or used a better emulsifier, it wouldn't be an issue. Even when I was eating it in the restaurant the evening it was prepared, it was still oozing butter. I would probably come back here again to try other things but the extreme butter is a bit off putting.

Also wish they had some non alcoholic wine options (such as Goodvines, Rondel, Bloom, etc.) but they do get bonus points for actually having an NA beer that isn't...

A Culinary Gem on Historic Main Street

The Main House is an absolute standout nestled in the heart of historic Main Street in Saint Charles. From the moment you walk in, you're welcomed by a warm, upscale ambiance that strikes the perfect balance between elegance and comfort.

The highlight of the evening? Without a doubt, the filet. It’s melt-in-your-mouth tender, expertly prepared, and seasoned to perfection—truly one of the best I’ve ever had, and that’s saying something. It easily rivals (or surpasses) any high-end steakhouse experience.

The appetizers are equally impressive, offering a range of creative and delicious options that are perfect for sharing—or keeping to yourself. Each bite shows attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

The staff is another reason this place shines. Attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, they make you feel genuinely welcome and ensure every part of your dining experience is smooth and enjoyable.

Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just treating yourself to a memorable night out, The Main House is a must-visit. Saint Charles is...
