The chef, Chip, is an incredibly gifted master of cuisine. I had the skirt steak with fries and my husband had the oven roasted pork chop with mashed potatoes and oven roasted Brussel sprouts. The skirt steak was cooked to perfection! It was tender and juicy which is a difficult thing to do with this particular cut of beef but Chip nailed it. It was drizzled with an herb and vinegar kind of chimichurri and drizzled with an olive oil that you could just taste the quality in. And the French fries, I don't know what they do to their french fries but they're better than any french fry I've had.. EVER! Our server, Sergei, was knowledgeable and friendly and very accommodating. He explained to us that the special of the day was the chef's take on shrimp and grits. They were outstanding. The shrimp were not overcooked and seasoned to enhance their flavor. I don't know what was in that sauce but it was like heaven on earth. And the grits, omg! My husband's oven roasted pork chop came with a sauce that had an acidity to it that complemented the pork and really brought out the flavor. The pork was the most tender and juicy pork chop we've ever eaten. Yes, I ate some of his pork chop! And the brussel sprouts.. well even if you don't like brussel sprouts you'll like these. I only wish I had had room for dessert. Not only would I highly recommend The Main House for its excellent menu but the atmosphere as well. Honorable mention goes to the bartender whose name I did not get for making a most delicious cosmopolitan, so good in fact I had two! Thank you, Chip and Sergei, for making our date night tastes so good! The food tasted so good I was only able to capture one picture of the half-eatened shrimp and grits. We have been back three times since this review and every time chef Chip never disappoints. Our server this time was Addison. She's friendly, knowledgeable, and very eager to serve and please her customers. I had the beef medallions with broccoli and his delicious mashed potatoes. My husband had the pork again because it's just the bomb! And if you can manage to save room for dessert the coconut cream pie is the best coconut cream pie ever. I always end up taking some home because I can...
Read moreThe pan roasted chicken was amazing! Very tender. Almost tasted like they used a sous vide to cook it first. The seasoning and spices were on point too. Service was pretty good as well and great ambiance inside. The only reason why this isn't 5/5 stars is due to a couple small things that could be improved upon. One of our plates came out with giant wipe marks on it where you could tell they tried to wipe whatever spilled on the rim except they didn't do a thorough job of wiping so it left these little rings which was kind of gross honestly. Server didn't tell us her name (though it was very busy.) Minor details like that separate this place from being 4 to 5 stars IMHO. The other thing that kind of grossed me out was how much butter they put on literally everything. More butter doesn't automatically = better food. I'm lucky I remembered to bring my digestive enzymes with me or I would have definitely had an IBS attack. When I got home, my stomach was very upset though and it was a rough evening, I'll just leave it at that. The macaroni and cheese (which I was extremely excited to try) was the worst offender. I decided to get a half portion only which isn't on the menu but they can certainly do that for you if you ask. It was still way too much food so I decided to bring half home. The next day I went to heat some up for lunch and well... It was literally just some noodles floating in a puddle of butter. I uploaded a photo so it's clear what I mean. Hardly any cheese, mostly butter. I think if they reduced the butter or used a better emulsifier, it wouldn't be an issue. Even when I was eating it in the restaurant the evening it was prepared, it was still oozing butter. I would probably come back here again to try other things but the extreme butter is a bit off putting.
Also wish they had some non alcoholic wine options (such as Goodvines, Rondel, Bloom, etc.) but they do get bonus points for actually having an NA beer that isn't...
