Prior to visiting the area I had searched for a vegan friendly restaurant for an out of town visitor. Even though we weren’t out riding the trail we decided to try it for lunch. First, there were tables outside still covered with abandoned empty plates, wadded napkins, etc. Basically, it looked unkempt. Next, the worker inside who took our order was unfriendly, unresponsive, and sullen. Barely spoke at all and no smile or anything! We asked if they had lemon for iced tea. She silently took out a container of dry looking sliced lemon from behind the counter, reached out with a lemon slice, and dropped it in the glass with her fingers! Ew. When our food finally came the cashew queso we ordered was cold. Unappetizing. We asked if it was supposed to be cold. She was very nice to heat it up, but then it came back chunky, slightly burnt tasting, and not that great. The chips were super salty too. Combined with salty queso it was too much. The lettuce on the sandwiches we ordered was wilted and old tasting. For a veggie sandwich there were hardly any vegetables. Also, there is no bathroom on site. This is a terrible inconvenience for bikers and other patrons. Most especially inconvenient when you have a toddler that can’t hold it for very long. Maybe their coffee and breakfast is good? I don’t know, but combine the service with the marginal food (for the price...outrageous!) and I...
Read moreI sure hope these folks appreciate all I have to go thru to get there. Living in S. St. Lou, first I need to jump on a Metro-Link train, then transfer to a bus and finally from the intersection of McKelvey Rd. at Marine Ave., I ride a bicycle the last 11 miles. Thank God for the paved bike paths from Creve Coeur Lake and the Katy Trail into St. Charles.
I seem to have a love/hate relationship with the Bike Stop Café. Some things I love – others, not so much. I love their “Century Wrap” for breakfast. What I don’t like – they offer NO senior citizen’s discount or Veteran’s discount. Every other bike shop I know offers one or the other – some both. Yesterday, (June 11, 2024) I decided to nab a table outside. The server brought out my food with no napkins. I had to go back inside & find some on my own – swiping a few from an unoccupied table. $16.87 for breakfast with an apple juice (plus tip) seems a bit high to me. But then again, everything in today’s world for a septuagenarian living on Social (in) Security is priced too high. Final thought… Although the restroom was spotless, the hand towel dispenser was empty. Yet, there was a full roll sitting on a shelf. It beat using TP to...
Read moreNot the friendliest. I was there last week trying to get warm cause of the cold. Plus. I was texting someone waiting for them to come by so I can buy them something at this shop and the one girl was so rude and told me I had to leave unless I had to buy something. She was so ignorant. That was such a bad experience for me I don't even know if I'm even coming back to this place. I was planning to buy something for myself and a friend. But the one girl that was working there was rude. To the owners you need to fire her. I'm sorry that was a bad experience. I have a disability and she had no right to kick people out. She's not the manager. I wasn't causing a scene there I was minding my own business and what she did is illegal and I didn't even steal anything from there. If I was just there waiting for someone so I can buy something for me and them. She can't kick me out. That's illegal. The one girl I'm talking about not trying to be racist or anything but looked like she was Mexican or something with the black hair. I could be wrong. But she rubbed me off the wrong way. I want to speak to the owners of this place. Cause of my bad experience. I want to talk...
