Cass Gilbert Memorial Park is named for Zanesville, OH native and longtime Saint Paul resident who was architect of notable structures including the Minnesota State Capitol building, the United State Supreme Courthouse, the Woolworth Building. The park is small in size but offers grand views of the city of Saint Paul including downtown, the Minnesota State Capitol and Cathedral of Saint Paul, and the Mississippi River valley. A tree-shaded walkway leads to an overlook to take in the full view, and a grassy plateau is a grand place to linger or picnic. There was nobody parked there one day while the next had a nearly full parking lot, so it may be hard to park at times.
