We went to Jannus Live to see Candlebox which is always a guaranteed good time. The venue is pretty cool. I've never been to such an outdoor theater located in the center of a city. Because my wife was 8 months pregnant at the time, I rented out one of the 3 VIP suites they have. I have mixed feelings about it. The price wasn't totally outrageous but I wouldn't say I got the proper value for what I spent. My biggest issue about the VIP situation is that tickets are not included . That doesn't make sense to me. They basically have you paying bottle service prices on bottles of alcohol . I don't think that's right since you're already paying a bulk price to rent out the room . Not that you should necessarily get a discount on the alcohol but at least play with you would be playing on the main floor . If you're not planning on doing spring break style drinking you really won't get the value out of alcohol let you purchase . Your deposit for the sweet goes towards the alcohol though. There was apparently some kitchen employee turnover that week so we didn't get the wing platter we ordered until the show was 2/3 over. I think they need to work out a better way to purchase the alcohol as well. There is a bar in the VIP area but it wasn't open.
As far as the staff, I had mixed dealings with security. As I said, my wife was 8 months pregnant. The 2 guys stationed by will call were amazing!! The encouraged us to come see them so they could set us up in an area where we could watch the show without being in "general population " . They were also adamant about telling us to inform them of any problems. I wish I could remember their names because they did introduce themselves and they were the kind of guys I would want working for me if I owned the venue. Unfortunately it seemed that they were the exception not the rule. At the end of the night after the show is over several Security Guys will making rude comments to people and telling them it was time to leave. People who were at the merchandise table trying to buy T-shirts and such and also interacting with band members and taking pictures we're being rushed and actually heckled by members of the security staff to try and rush them out of the venue. I thought that...
Read moreI have been to many concerts before, but only a handful here. Security outside the venue has been good at keeping things organized, but it's ALWAYS security by the barricade that don't know how to handle the situations they're paid to work in. I have two different shows/instances:
Show 1 was I Prevail headliner in 2022: One of the security guards at barricade was on his phone and just ignoring the crowd and crowd surfers. Members of the band saw this and called him out for not doing his one job. Security guard threatened to fight the band. It was ridiculous.
Show 2 was this past weekend for Nothingmore: A bunch of girls and myself were up at barricade and had been there for a couple hours at this point. A random woman who admittedly had a bit too much to drink, was trying to shove past us, groping us, and putting her hands on our bodies. We asked her to stop multiple times because we didn't feel comfortable and she was also pushing multiple people. She was never part of our group and was just being rude. We told security she was harassing us and groping us and all they could do was shrug. It wasn't just one person complaining about this inappropriate woman. It was almost 9 of us. Two separate security guards told us to handle it ourselves. Well, we didn't, because she tried putting her hands on a DIFFERENT person and they started hitting her, and then the woman that was causing all the problems FINALLY (after 20+ minutes of this happening) got kicked out of the show.
I'm glad security did something but holy damn it took so long to get anything to happen! But also, security will hand out water between sets if it's insanely hot out like it was at my most recent show, so that's nice.
Other than security being incredibly hit or miss, venue is fun, sound is okay, drinks are about average priced for a concert now-a-days, and parking garages are only a couple...
Read moreThe worst venue experience I’ve ever had, and I say that as somebody that’s attended almost 50 shows in the last 3 years and traveled all over FL and outside states to go to different venues. I had VIP tickets for Dayseeker, Alpha Wolf, Catch Your Breath and Kingdom Of Giants show and ended up having to leave the show early because of the venues bullshit no re-entry policy and absolute lack of accommodations for anybody. We showed up early (4pm) as directed for VIP which was supposed to start at 4:30. We didn’t get back to the VIP until after 4:45 and made our way through the meet and greet lines. We received huge posters, a vinyl and commemorative tickets and I was told that I could go back to my car to take our things as long as I showed my VIP ticket to get back in. Kingdom of Giants was fine. Catch Your Breath had a horrible set - not the band- just the acoustics, you could not hear ANYTHING in the back it was so disappointing. Felt my blood sugar tank and the ONLY food the venue was selling was pizza and I’m gluten-free. I tried to let the security & management know what was going on and ask if I could go to my car to get a snack and was completely talked over and told that they “deal with this all the time” and had pizza and soda and that I shouldn’t “risk my health for a band.” I understand if there’s a no reentry policy but 1) I was already allowed to leave and re-enter prior and 2) accommodations should be made for medical emergencies. I ended up having to leave and miss Alpha Wolf and Dayseeker to go get actual food. I was incredibly disappointed in the management and the way the situation was handled. That was my first and probably last time at Jannus. I have tickets for Underoath later in the year that I will get a refund for or sell my ticket and I won’t be giving any more of my...
