Shyer’s Lobster Pound — Attraction in Salem

Do NOT buy anything here! This business is dishonest and does not respect customers. If I could give ZERO stars, I would. Today this business cheated, charging me for more weight of lobster that did not exist. I picked up what was tagged by the store as 2.78 LB lobster costing nearly $53.00. I returned home and thought that the lobster package felt light for nearly a 3 LB lobster. So I weighed it on 2 different scales, including a kitchen scale. The lobster, including paper bag and plastic bag, weighs only 2.1 LB!!! I called the store right away and experienced rudeness, the store rep calling me a liar. 2 different scales are not wrong, especially cross-checked against other products on hand--1 LB spaghetti, rice, etc. I also cook professionally, which is why my experience told me that the package weight was too light, and 2 scales confirmed it. Customer service--horrendous!!! Cheating customers on weight of a costly product! Wow, Shyer's Lobster Pound thinks that customers are really stupid and they treat them exactly that way!

Further to my above post, New Hampshire Department of Agriculture, Markets & Food Division of Weights and Measures was contacted and confirmed that other complaints similar to mine were received regarding the cheating by Shyer's Lobster Pound.

I place an order for 10 two lb lobsters and 20 lbs of steamers and I ask if the steamers were small and the guy that took my order said he had small ones. I went to pick them up yesterday. When I saw the clams I said to the lady I really am not happy with the clams because of the sizes of the clams were big and I ordered small clams. She started yelling at me and said well don’t take them. I said too her why are you yelling at me and she said I picked them myself. Well you are an horrible human to treat customers the way you do.Easier said than done. 7.99 a lb I must of thrown 4 lbs of smashed clams away there was rocks and empty shells inside and about 3 lbs of sand. The items here are always fresh. I typically come here for their octopus; I use it to make a latino octopus salad. It's the place I find the largest and best tasting whole octopus. And I also come here for their fresh lobster meat, they sell it per pound including tail, claw and knuckle meat! Other markets sell the lobster meat without the tail for around the same price so it's totally worth getting it from here.
