My girlfriend and I visited the store for the first time, and was initially impressed by the selection of collectibles they had. However, the experience quickly became unpleasant. When we asked the employee to retrieve two figures I was interested in, they dropped one of the figures all the way from the shelf to the floor. He apologized saying he was "trying to be cool". I brushed it off, and went to checkout. When they rang me up, the total was more than advertised. It turns out that one of the figures had the "incorrect" sticker on it, and was $10 more. The figure was priced at 129.99 and at the counter went up to 139.99. The employees fumbled around not knowing what to do, until they decided to give me $10 off. Except they only gave me $5 off. In total, I spent over $250. I get home, and unbox the figure they dropped to make sure it was all good. And after inspecting it, the wrist peg snapped. So naturally, I went back to see if they could do a return or exchange. When I asked for what options they could offer, both the employees looked at each other like they had no clue what to do or say. So they told me they'll text their boss and see what they say. We were told to wait and look around. I finally got an answer which was that they could do nothing. This is not only surprising, but extremely disappointing considering the amount I spent and the experience I had before hand. The figure could have been damaged when the employee dropped it. They claim that I am a liar, and my girlfriend who was with me and witnessed everything is a liar too. Other stores would try to make the experience right, and offer some sort of solution. Whether that be BBTS, Alien Worlds, or even a big retail chain like Target. The employees are not very helpful and the store seems to be misleading with incorrect price tags. On my second visit waiting for a response from their boss, I noticed there were other figures that seemingly had incorrect price tags. One of them retails for 34.99 everywhere and was 129.99 at this store. I would advise to shop elsewhere, as the store is overpriced, has misleading prices on their figures and the customer support is...
Read moreI want to start this review off with saying we (my sibling and I) typically like coming into this place but this most recent time when we came in, there was an employee we have never seen working that day, and they were not friendly. We usually come in for gachapon and then will check out some of the figures and usually everyone is friendly even when its busy. It was quiet that day no other customers were in there.
First we had asked the lady at the register if we could purchase some tokens for the machine, and she asks if we know how to use them, we tell her we do. When we went over used one of the machines the capsule wasn't coming out (we put one to many coins in on accident) and she had come over immediately fixed it and went back to the counter. We did a couple of machines and then went up to the counter to ask her to help us get a couple figures out of one of the cases so that we could purchase them.
When we asked her to open up the figures case to purchase a couple of the figures she opened it and got the figure out. Then she closed it and locked it then asked if there was anything else we say yes and ask her to get the second figure out of the same case and this is where we had the issue of her being snippy with us, because immediately after she gets it out she says "Is there anything else I can get you before I lock it up again" she said it in an annoyed tone. After that we didn't feel comfortable staying in the store any longer because her demeanor remained the same, so we checked out and left.
Typically I would be understanding, sometimes people have bad days and it can affect how you act at work. But when I looked at other reviews it seemed as if someone had a similar issue fairly recently with who I assume was the same woman since I've only seen guys working here the last several months. They said she had an attidue of acting like she didn't want to be there or working there. To be honest I don't know if I or my sibling feel comfortable going in again especially while...
Read more[Update] I got into contact with the owner mark and we discussed my experience at the store. Having gained more insight into their practices it's clear to me the security of obtaining legitimate items and hand carrying them all the way back from storefronts in Japan is very costly. If it weren't for the prices reflecting that it would not be possible to sustain the store. I respect the personal and financial sacrifice both the owners and employees make to deliver a slice of Japan and otaku culture right here in Texas and the US. Very impressed with the care and concern over one customers opinion that was expressed to me and would definitely go back. The figures are more than authentic and while are a bit more expensive when compared to online shops they have demonstrated their conviction for the industry and care for their customers. Great stuff and great place to search for figures. I've never had an issue with new figures being knock off or broken. The integrity of their business is flawless with me and the one time I did have a complaint it was resolved and I was left more than satisfied. Check out their figures people you won't regret it! Special thanks to Mark for taking time to reach out to me and offer me an avenue to express my complaints and reaching a resolution. The only anime store in Texas...
