The portion sizes are getting smaller. Been going here for three months (about 10 visits) and today the sesame chicken dinner portion was noticeably smaller, yet still the same price. The manager said the portion still weighs the same and tried to say that it was because of the new plates they use, which are smaller… this makes zero sense; if the portion is still the same size/weight and it goes onto a smaller plate, then the portion would naturally look bigger due to the relative size of the smaller plate. This was not the case. In addition, I was able to eat a whole bowl of rice myself, which I’ve never been able to do because I would be full from all of the chicken; since I was served noticeably less chicken this time, I had much more room for rice filler. The sesame chicken still tasted great nonetheless… it is just annoying to feel like I’m being cheated as a customer by being given a smaller portion size, and the portion size was certainly one of the main reasons I liked this place.
Secondly, the egg drop soup was diluted/watered down and this was likely because we arrived at 8:30pm when they were about to close. We eat the egg drop soup every time we go and this time, since it was the end of the day and they didn’t want to make a fresh batch, they simply added more water to the remaining soup they had so that they could create more. We still got charged for this warm water and it was disappointing.
Lastly, our waitress (younger girl with curly long hair, must’ve been new, we’ve never seen her) could use some improvement… did not bring out our egg drop soup before the entree (another waitress had to bring it upon our request), gave us room temperature water with no ice, did not remove dirty dishes from the small table, did not refill our rice bowl (another waitress had to do this), and did not give us our fortune cookies until after we requested them upon leaving; all of these things are basic, common practices for food service and need to be learned. It is a shame the tip went to her.
They definitely “dropped the ball” on this one… I do not recommend coming any time after around 7:30pm. If the dinner portion size is small, then it should not be charged the dinner price. If the waitress is not doing their job, then she does not deserve a full tip. If the soup is bland, then you should not have to pay for it. I am curious if management will do anything to make this right, but I do not...
Read moreCame with my wife and son on a Sunday May 18th 2025 approx 7:18pm. Hate to give 1 star reviews so you get a 2 star. First and foremost we made reservations. So we came in to the restaurant sign says please sit and someone will be with you. So we sat and waited. The manager has given 3 separate to go orders to 3 separate customers. We haven't been acknowledged yet so I go to the manager behind the delivery counter and asked her whats going on. She didn't smile, no eye contact and told me there getting your table ready the wait staff should have greeted you. This manager looked like she hated her job just going thru the motions like a robot. While we are sitting i noticed 3 tables that were dirty and no one was bussing the tables. So understandably I was upset with the manager as well as the waitstaff. Well I was critically wrong. First reaction was they are not doing their job. Wrong assumption. I started to reflect on my restaurant and I thought to myself this is not the managers fault or wait staffs fault. This is the OWNERS fault. They SET THESE PEOPLE UP FOR FAILURE. The girl behind the counter that was doing to go orders was so behind trying to catch up. She was overwhelmed. Waitstaff expectations were unreasonable. The waitstaff is suppose to greet people, plus bus tables, plus take orders, plus bring the food and drinks, plus be attentive to the tables, and also give you the bill at the end. I must tell you the waitstaff was incredible under these adverse conditions. My hats off to them being put in that type of situation and doing their best and their tip reflected that. As for the owners, Ive been coming to your store since you opened. Service has been a challenge for you since day one. It's a really easy fix. DON'T BE CHEAP WHEN IT COMES TO LABOR. One more person on the floor is not going to break the bank. Cross train someone to greet people bus tables or whatever. YOU CAN DO IT! This review is not meant to belittle you or insult you in any way it is meant to enlighten you and make the necessary changes to raise you to the top. No one strives to be mediocre, we strive to be the best in the restaurant business. I want Sichuan House to be the best Chinese restaurant in San Antonio which includes service and atmosphere and treating your...

Plates on the t.v. screen aren't served i was so disappointed to get the tea duck with no presentation at all then what is show in the photos. The soup dumping are heavy and tear when you pick them up losing all the soup. To be quiet honest if the waitress would of delivered our drinks before helping a huge birthday party cut cake and get forks and plates it would have e been a better experienced. If the hostess didn't need two other employees help on the technology. The whole system is fccckedd. I mean this place was better the first year it was.open with the extensive menu and love and care, are yall unable to handle the traffic or what, it was just a bad bad bad bad dine in experience waiting to be seated no seats to seat constanhaving to move as we stand and wait hostess and host running around all confused trying to set tables. Not taking drink orders correct and having people sit and wait for service it's just.....what happened yall were killing it now it's a disaster
