Update: Bumping them up to 5 stars, they did me a solid in refilling my popcorn on a late night film by giving me a few small bags which is what I wanted the previous time. Manager was super friendly too. Top notch place.
I've never been in the CBX films, but just the standard films with my moviepass. I've never had an issue with this theater but was slightly annoyed that they wouldn't just let me have my refill from the get go for me and my girlfriend. She prefers her popcorn without butter and I love drenching mine in the stuff, so usually we go to theaters like Cinemark etc and they'll do us the courtesy of giving us the refill there upon request on the spot and marking our bags as normal. They refuse to do that here which makes things frustrating given our preferences.
I feel like the Cleto pre-reel bump to movies goes on a little too long after seeing it several times (you get that "Can we just start the movie now? type of feeling") Enjoyed it the first few times but like anything it gets old and you realize how long winded it can feel after seeing it over and over.
The popcorn bags feel a little too flimsy and thin, as I mentioned previously I'm a butter fiend I love that fake gooey stuff, but I gotta bring like an apron or a pile of napkins everytime because that bag will leak out onto my pants or seat everytime 100% and I don't want that and they don't want that.
Apart from the lack of courtesy service with the refill upon request, flimsy popcorn bags, and the long pre-movie bump with the Cleto segment, the theaters been great. The seats are comfortable, the temperature always feels just right to me, they had plenty of lines open, the screens are high quality, good angle on the seating where I never really worry about taller people sitting in front of me. Assigned seating doesn't bother me and the layout is a lot better than most theaters (never been forced to sit front row so I can't really judge how their seats are there) Love the earlier than normal showings they sometime offer at 9-10am as I work an overnight shift and don't always have the opportunity to go to an evening movie.
Overall a pleasant theater and one of my favorites around my side of town, wouldn't quite hoof it to go to them if I lived further away, but minor improvements to small requests like my popcorn refill on the spot, shortening the cleto segment, and upping the popcorn bag quality and they'd be 100% for me with their great screens...
Read moreI was so in love with this place, even tho we live Super close to Mayan palace i liked going to city base almost every weekend. My hubby is a movie lover, we have a two year old and today was the first time i was told to get out! This was a really sad experience for me! As a parent i understand how important it is to be responsible when he starts to cry or something i always get out, i have no promblem with that. Ok we got to our seats and watched the previous for the avengers infinity war; the lady sitting next to us was just looking at us and then she got out and came back with sodas and movie stared. After two mins she told us in a rude way “just get him out” meaning my baby, even the person infront of us looked at her. My baby was moving like a normal baby but not crying or doing crazy things. After two mins she had said that I left my seat and waited with my baby on the side where the exit door is, then the mannager came and talked to an employe to come back to me and tell me to get out becase “there already had been more than 5 complaints about my baby” i felt really mad, then i knew it was the lady. Ok they are doing their job and i understand that, he offered me 5 passes but for what? For me to go 5 more times and them make me get out?? I really felt bad because they should had ask people around! Or at least make sure!
I waited for my hubby for almost 3 hours at my car for him to tell me this lady sitting next to him and who complained about my baby was passing over and over, was talking and her kid was yelling, people around her got mad and told her to stop talking. My cuestion is then where was the mannager???? I couldnt watch 2 mins from the movie and couldnt get my money back, i ended up giving the pass to a dad so he could enjoy with his kids!!
Then i told my hubby and he called to talk to the mannager who said he heard my baby crying?? (Im not sure at what moment) And that the lady complained but then who where the other 4 or more that complaint during the two first mins of the movie??
Mannager your doing your job but today you did not do great, just check your cameras to see who really had to get out!!
And for the lady i believe her kid never moved or something! But all i can...
Read moreIf I could leave a negative star rating, I would. My family of 7 purchased tickets on Fandango for a 8:25pm showing of 'It' on a Saturday night. Upon arriving to the theater, we found 7 people sitting in our seats. I kindly asked a couple to see their tickets to ensure we were in the correct theater & correct seats. It looked as if they had the EXACT same tickets as us. The 5 other people sitting in the seats WE paid for said they were sitting there because someone was sitting in their seats. Instead of trying to figure it out among ourselves, I went to find an employee. Two employees & a manager by the name of Andrew Anderson later, my family & I were at the box office missing the start of the movie. Not once did he (Anderson) apologize for the inconvenience. Not once did he ask to see anyone else's tickets besides ours. He offered to give us tickets to see another movie but clearly, we were there to see a movie we purchased tickets for. He then proceeded to talk to my family & I as if we were children. Pointing directly into our faces & telling us to 'shh' He told me I would not be refunded for the tickets & I demanded a refund or I would not be leaving the theater. He eventually processed a refund minus a convenience fee charged by Fandango. He was not properly trained to handle the situation nor did he have any sort of customer service skills needed to speak to adults. I sent an email to the owner, Brad Smith, on Monday & it is now Thursday & I have yet to receive a response. I still have not received the full refund owed to me because neither City Base Cinema or Fandango claims responsibility for double selling the seats. My family & I will never return to City Base Cinema. It is clear this establishment lacks the professionalism, the customer service & the high standards needed to run a business. I would not recommend this theater, save your money & visit Santikos Embassy 14! (The theater we ended up watching the movie at 2 hours later that night!! So beautiful & worth the drive...
