Hill Country Hobby — Attraction in San Antonio

Of the 8 or 9 times I've been, they've only been open maybe 1 or 2 of the times. I always came on a day they said they would be open, but there would be a yellow paper sign on the door saying "We're closed!" Frustrating, but the couple times I did make it in when they were open, their selection was either lackluster or decent. Most of the kits they did have were either expensive or ones that would not interest the common kit builder. They have a great paint and accessories selection that competes with the other larger stores in the SA area. I wish they had more common kits, and a better...

I've only been here a couple time. They have a great selection on modeling tools but are lacking in models. The prices are ok compared to online prices. I'm ok with paying a few buck more to get it ASAP. Customer service is seriously lacking. The first time there, I was a fish out of water. There was one employee who just sat at the desk. At no point was I approached to offer help. I guess most people know what they're looking for. For me it seems like a quarterly visit location. I visited them yesterday as as an out of town trip. (San Angelo) where the best we have is Hobby Lobby. So I was very happy when I walked in and saw the awesome selection of models and other supplies. I ended up purchasing some paints that I needed. The owner was very helpful with my inquiries about certain products. Most of the prices were pretty good. Though some of them were out of my price range. Still it was an overall great visit and I hope to be able to visit them again...
