Just what I have been wishing for (For Real!): A meat market & right in my own neighborhood! I hate the way grocery store meat tastes... I thought it was me & basically quit eating meat & poultry. BUT today I bought locally sourced meat from Wiatrek's & found out the real stuff is still out there!! I had liver & onions, just like Mom used to make! I know, a lot of people don't like it, but a lot of people do. It was delicious! I got some rib eye & pork chops that look great, & some Bohemian Rhapsody BBQ sauce (I couldn't resist... you know, the name & it's made in SA!) The chicken, fish & even bacon wrapped quail are on my list for next time. The ground beef looked great & can't wait for some burgers on the grill. Clark was so nice, explaining his business, the meat, poultry & the source locations-- Nixon, Poth, & Moulton to name a few. The shop is neat & clean; I like the flooring & simple design, with plenty of space. There's a butcher glass case, from which you can request your selections, as well as cases with self-serve items. Prices are great, but most importantly the quality & taste are what will make me (and you, if you give it a try) a Wiatrek's devotee & customer. Thanks for reading & lets give this shop & it's local suppliers...
Read moreWell the wife and I were in the area and decided to stop by and take a look. After a few minutes of looking around we decided to buy some Ribeye bone in steaks. We got home put the steaks in the refrigerator because we were going to eat them for dinner. I seasoned them with some Kosher Salt and Ground Pepper and let them sit for a few hours till I was ready to cook them. Later in the evening I took them out of the refrigerator and let them sit in room temperature for about 15-20 minutes. I went ahead and fired up the grill and started to cook the steaks 3-4 minutes before rotating the steaks about a 45 degree angle then another 3-4 minutes. I then flipped them over and repeated the same process. The steaks were starting to look amazing. After they were done cooking, I took them out and let them rest for 10-15 minutes. When it came time to eat to my surprise they were very tough as rubber that we had to use lots of force to just to try to cut a piece of steak. I was so disappointed because I knew how my wife had been looking forward to eating her steak. I don't know if we just happen to get bad steak or what but our experience...
Read moreMy wife and I have been thinking about trying local meat markets to buy better quality meats since we moved to Texas. Being a Saturday, we wanted to get out of the house and decided to check out Wiatrek's. First impressions, friendly and well staffed location. Went in for some jerky, ended up buying their top quality New York strip, and some 90/10 hamburger. We didn't go too crazy not much room in the freezer. However, we wanted to check out the quality of the meat to see if this will be our new meat source. We are cooking the New York strip tonight and having rhe hamburger a few days from now. I will comment on the New York strip once we cook it up. The prices seem more than fair especially if it lives up to the reviews. Also, it they had adequate cuts of meat to suit buyers selection needs. Okay it's dinner time, and I prepared the steaks by broiling them. Very good taste, texture, and tenderness. Satisfied with the purchase. Will shop there again for my meats and support my...
