Please don’t waste your time or money here. You get what you pay for. I appreciate that my masseuse did her best in a bad situation but it was freezing (and I did ask for it to be warmer, several times), there were many, many interruptions, where people were coming in and out of the spa and she was the only person there who spoke English at the time and therefore had to be the one to check everyone in and interpret for the other masseuses, but it made the experience very disjointed and not relaxing, and then to be honest, the massage itself wasn’t great. Like it was just very clear to me that she wasn’t professionally trained in any way, like it seemed more like someone had shown her, but not like she really trained professionally, and I had to keep asking her to do the same things over and over and pointing to the area I wanted her to work on, only for her to work on it for a minute and then go back to whatever she was doing before. I also had ask her not to go so hard on my bones and focus on my muscles, which seems like a pretty basic message tenement. At several times, she mistook my bones for knots and went really hard. While I did ask her to go hard, I didn’t mean go hard on my bones and it was painful and I had to keep asking her to not go so hard on my bones. I will give it to her, she really seemed like she was trying and I’m not trying to be mean, I do believe she tried her best, it just wasn’t very good.
On top of it, she made several comments about my appearance, from telling me how thin my hair is (I have a hormonal condition and it’s a sore spot of mine that I’m already well aware of), to when talking to me about my recent drastic weight loss, telling me I needed to lose more weight to be beautiful, to assuming I had children because of my body, acting surprised when I said I didn’t and talking about my loose skin from said recent weight loss. I want to say that I don’t think she said any of this to be mean, it just seemed like she didn’t realize how rude and honestly hurtful it was. She also said some nice things about how well I take care of my skin and how smart I was to lose weight. Like it just seemed overall that she didn’t understand that for the most part, it’s not ok to comment, especially negatively, on a stranger’s body. Especially when you’re giving them a massage and they’re naked on a table in front of you.
Then as we were walking out, despite how bad the experience was, I was still planning on tipping because it was the polite thing to do and I do believe she tried, just not tipping as well as I might’ve otherwise, and I was expecting to do so at the front desk like all the other places I’ve gone to. So as I walked past her in the hallway toward the entrance and front desk to pay the tip and be done, she thought I was walking out and stiffing her on the tip, and she made sure to ask me about it, like “what, you won’t pay a tip?” Like to me, and I’ve worked for years in various service positions where tips made up a significant portion of my income, but you don’t confront someone about not tipping. You might think less of them and be disappointed about it, but you don’t confront them for a tip.
Overall, I had high hopes for this place because of a previous good experience and for the price, I thought it was a great value. I saved up and was looking forward to this for a while but I was sorely disappointed. I will never be coming back. I really wish it had gone differently but after a certain point in the massage, when I had given up on it being relaxing and good, I was consoling myself with the thought that I can always go somewhere else in the future soon when I had more money. That I’ll get a good massage at a more established and reputable place soon.
So, while I appreciate how hard I think she was trying and that the circumstances were not her fault, I wouldn’t recommend going here. Save your money and just pay more for a...
Read moreThis is my honest review and personal experience based on my recent visit on July 6, 2025. It began with a phone call at approximately 6 p.m. to Happy Feet Spa (6596 El Cajon Blvd.). The person (lady) who answered the phone didn’t come off as rude but seemed unmotivated to schedule us (my wife and I) as we wanted a couples massage. She stated that she would call us back, and guess what… no call back. We thought it was no big deal; maybe they’re just busy. So we headed on over there and walked in through the back. While walking through the hallway and making our way to the front lobby, out comes some thin (noticeably skinny) lady from behind us in provocative clothing (believe me, not a pleasant sight). As she’s fixing her half-dressed attire, she proceeded with giving us the massage rate, and we paid the $60 per person. On with the massage. In the beginning, the massage seemed quite untrained. A lot of just pressing, then I was hit with a “Do you want oil?” I was confused… I responded with a… yeah… doesn’t it come with it? So when the oil hit my back, it was just a lot of swirling, more so than actual massage. The masseuse also left the room like three times during the massage. Here’s the funny part: when she did my feet, she put on gloves, loose gloves at that… what??!! (never had that happen before). Take it for what you will, I know my hygiene is on point. When asking my wife, she said her masseuse only slightly massaged her feet with the blanket over it, what a joke! All in all, we (my wife and I) have been here in the past and enjoyed our massages. This time around had totally ruined the thought of me ever returning or recommending it. In my personal opinion and “ONLY MY OPINION”, is that the two women there at that hour/day were not really interested in massage based on their lack of skill and dress attire. One more thing before I wrap this up, and I’ll be honest, I felt like the masseuse did not deserve a tip. I feel your tip should be based on your service. That being said, I walked out disappointed, and sure enough, guess who’s following me repeatedly asking “I get no tip”.. I get no tip .. ?? Absolutely no shame! I wanted to leave, but her persistence made my wife empathetic, so she...
Read more3/21/2023. Very Uncomfortable Massage. This was my first time at Happy Feet Spa, and I will not be coming back. First of all, the prices were a little bit higher than what was posted in previous reviews. Secondly, the staff at the front desk was very friendly, but as soon as I interacted with the female masseuse, we started to have communication problems because her English was very limited. I had just been doing hard physical labor the last 5 days, and I needed firm, hard pressure. This masseuse was providing limited pressure; it was as if she was petting me, and not massaging me. She seemed distracted by her phone and even left the door of the room open a few times even though I was completely naked, which made me stressed. Thirdly, I asked the masseuse to not touch the bottom of my feet because they are very hypersensitive and it's painful. The masseuse ignored my request and she continued to touch the bottom of my feet even though I was in obvious discomfort. I left this place feeling more stressed and in pain than when I first came in; the whole point was to relieve stress and pain, not cause it! Fourthly, I felt a bit cornered into tipping, even though I just endured a horrible massage. I feel like I threw $52 of my hard-earned money down the toilet. I don't know what the point of this "massage" place is when I left the building more stressed and in pain than when I first entered! Happy Feet Spa has so many good reviews, I am extremely disappointed with the experience that I just had. I can barely even afford luxuries, such as a massage in the...
