A little hidden!💎 One of my friends told me about this place, so I decided to check it out. When I first arrived, it reminded me of the Restaurants from Old Town, even though it doesn't look like that from the outside. Super cute and traditional! I sat at the bar since I was by myself, and it was nice because I was able to chat with the owner. I explained to her how I'm always looking for a good Carnitas place because a lot of places have Carnitas BUT, not all are good. However, when my plate arrived it looked quite nice and full. I ordered a Carnitas plate for one, and it came with beans, rice & pico de gallo. Which were ALL good! 👍 I'm VERY picky with beans and rice at places, but I will say that theirs were yummy! Not to mention the Carnitas 🤤🤤🤤 DELICIOUS! They have a great variety of dishes for people that don't eat pork. They have Sea Food Cocktails, beef and chicken dishes, for vegetarians they can order most of the things they have but with just beans, cheese, or veggies in a yummy red or green sauce if desired. I LOVED it, WILL be going there for many times to come. Next time I will take pictures! Highly...
Read moreStopped here on a whim as we were looking for a place to eat in our old stomping grounds of La Mesa. Not disappointed. The food and drinks were delicious.
The carnitas dinner for 1 was $7.50. The plate came with beans and rice. Our server promptly brought us chips and salsa to start our meal. I ordered the taco sampler, which came with your choice of 5 street tacos with beans and rice.
Altogether we had our meals plus 2 drinks and the total wasn't even $40!!! Not only is this an insane value but the food quality was far above much more expensive places around town.
The restaurant is cozy with festive decorations that included pińatas and sarapes draped over the tables and paintings that reminded me of Diego Rivera. Our server/host, Brenda, was attentive and super friendly and just quite welcoming.
If you are seeking a meal that will satisfy you in quality and flavor, come here. Food is delicious, drinks are outstanding and for what you pay and what you get, it will feel like you came out ahead. Excellent excellent spot for authentic...

So this place used to be in Lemon Grove for a number of years. But eventually the family that ran it wanted out and no one wanted to buy.
So they closed down but from what I understand the cooks from the orignal location did open a small spot in Spring Valley off of spring street across from the 7-11. It was take out and I believe drive-thru only.
Never went to it so I can't speak to the quality of it
Now this spot blew me away, the Carnitas were on point!!! Low almost no fat just juicy delicious pork! The refried beans reminded me of my grandmother's which is hard to do. The tortillas were great both flour and corn. Rice had good flavor and no hard or crunchy bits.
Overall very impressed with the food, and the service was great as well. I will definitely be going back.
I would highly recommend you give this...
