Sadly, most of the redwoods have been cut down at the circle (and it is a very short paved hoop around a grass field); however, there are still some across the little street by the restrooms. Directly next to the circle is a simply stunning, partially palm tree covered trail: Bridle Trail- this trail makes it worth it! The whole area is very beautiful!

If you love nature and beautiful weather this place is a great visit during the day, and it’s good cruisy dusk nightfall pit stop. I’m from Pennsylvania originally where there’s a sh*t ton of trees and even I was impressed with the foliage there #yestonature

During the day, a nice place for a picnic. At night its a popular place for men to meet men.

This should be renamed Sketchy Circle. Today while walking through otherwise beautiful Balboa Park's trails, I stumbled upon this area. Unbeknownst to me (I've only been here two weeks) as I was walking through, I came upon around 10 or so homeless people that were engaged in nefarious drug using activities in this area. They had a stove set-up, with trash and junk everywhere. I sped up my walking pace, and ignored them as much as possible. It was sketchy and very uncomfortable to say the least. Avoid this area of Balboa Park completely. It is a shame that the city is doing nothing to combat this problem that is so widely seen all over downtown, and even in Banker's Hill were I currently reside. Something needs to be done about this problem in the city. I really like San Diego, but am rethinking my stay in this area due to the vagrancy seen on a...

We were really looking forward to visiting Redwood Circle after reading about it online, but unfortunately, our experience was very different from what we expected. The area did not feel safe — there were many homeless people around, and one man was walking without pants. It was especially uncomfortable and frightening since we were with children.

In addition, several dogs were running around off-leash, which made it even more stressful. We were hoping for a peaceful and beautiful place to enjoy nature, but instead we felt uneasy and disappointed.

I wouldn’t recommend visiting this spot with kids. There are many better and safer places to explore...
