Well it was so unfortunate to receive such dismal service at such a lovely little market. I would think they would be more pleasant and provide their customers with a good experience, because everything in this awesome little store is way overpriced. But I did like the items and they had everything I needed. And I like the brands that they provided as well. But, again, I could have spent half the money if I would have went to Ralph's. And it's not like this place is convenient either. I was out walking around my neighborhood when I discovered this place and I thought I'd check it out. Well it seemed pretty busy and the place was really clean and they had a pretty good assortment of fresh food deli items as well as popular brands. A few people are ordering sandwiches and then there was another counter where you could pay for your other groceries. So, I grab some tortillas that look like they were maybe homemade or local, a can of beans (which was really overpriced) and a specialty item which was some local Rose lemonade. I can't wait to try it. But when I got to the counter to pay for my items, the young woman was not friendly, not smiling. She was unpleasant and dare I say rude. Yes, I said it she was rude. She hastily rang up my items and then left me to bag them myself with the items sprawled over the counter. Not a thank you or a smile. She moved to the next register to help the customer behind me. But that's okay I can bag my own items. I don't have a problem with that. But like I said it was out of my way it was way overpriced and the customer service was poor I can't think of any reason why I'd shop here again. I...

15 Reasons to Eat/Shop at Marketplace Deli

All soups are made from scratch. Clam chowder is good with plentiful ingredients. Every sandwich is customed to your fancy, simply ask. Subway cannot compare-ever! Pizza slices/pies are pretty tasteful and made fresh every single day and you can add additional toppings. Vegan, vegetarian, plant-based, fruitarian-you're covered. Breakfast sandwiches and burritos are filling, good and made fresh on the spizzo. Every single day, the cooks cut, prepare, slice and dice every item. Salad choices are vast including potato salad, cold pasta, fruit, and quick bites. This is an actual market so any food items you need for home cooking, it will likely be here...up charged but is available. You can purchase one tomato, or one hoagie roll or one onion. Love, love this option. Located across the street from the west side of Balboa Park- winning. Booze from low end to high end, including wine, can complement your meal. Every single employee serves and believes in customer relations. Maybe they all own the store together. It's quite impressive to receive this type of consistent connection with customers, homeless, law enforcement, disabled community etc. over years. I've been coming here for 12 years. Every single day. As of this review, no lotto or scratchers available here. Parking sucks but enough spots and time for you to get in and get out. Cash, cards, pre-order, pick up, order in, all...

Man, I used to be up in here all the time. My girl works right by y’all, so this was hers and mines go-to spot for lunch breaks. But lately? Y’all done lost your damn minds. The women behind that counter got the nastiest, most stank attitudes for NO reason. Like, what the heck is y’alls problem working in customer service if you hate talking to people so much? Ain’t nobody beggin you to take this job.

You barely look at folks, act annoyed when we ask for something and make us feel like a damn inconvenience for spending our money here. Keep that BS to yourself or you ain’t gonna have customers left to be rude to.

The only one holding y’all down is the dudes in the back whippin it up — they actually doing their job and putting out good food. But even that don’t matter now, ‘cause y’all hygiene is straight trash. Nah. Y’all can keep it.

Today we waited like 20 minutes for burnt pizza, got ignored, given foochie face and paid over $50 for food we don’t even wanna eat now ‘cause we don’t trust it. This place used to be our number one spot, but you’ve officially lost us AND my girls referrals. Fix your damn staff’s attitude and clean your place up before you run your own business...

Slam dunk sandwiches. Ordered online ahead of time and pickup was a breeze. Very crowded around lunchtime and the parking lot is pretty small, but people move in and out pretty quickly with the fast service. My group ordered the Christopher Columbus (turkey, avocado, Swiss, the works, on sourdough), the Torpedo sub, and a hot pastrami sandwich on sourdough. Sandwiches are between $11.99 and $14.99 for the most part and they are packed with meat and toppings. I was full after finishing half of my sandwich. They offer breakfast burritos, pizza, and other non-sandwich dishes on their menu I’d be interested to try. Balboa Park is just across the street so taking sandwiches to the park for a picnic would be a great idea.

The food and the service is very good! Only reason I put 3 stars for the atmosphere is because lunch time it gets super packed that some folks walk out because they think they're going to be there for a long time but the folks cooking and making sandwiches are fast and courteous! I usually get my order in, get in line to pay. Usually by the time I'm done paying the sandwich is made or the pizza slices are ready. Perfect place to pick up snacks. Lunch or dinner for a picnic at Balboa Park. One of my favorite places to get food before I go to Winyl Club on Wednesdays.
